This is a very special full flight! Today we’re flying on an Air Tindi De Havilland Canada Dash 7, as we fly from Yellowknife, Canada, to a gravel airstrip in the remote Canadian North! Air Tindi is an airline based in Yellowknife, Canada. They operate a very unique fleet of turboprops, which includes the rare De Havilland Canada Dash 7. In fact, they don’t just operate Dash 7’s, they are the largest operator of the type in the world! In January, I flew to Yellowknife and spent four days with Air Tindi. In those four days I took several flights, and this is the first one posted to the channel. I’ll be honest, I have not been this excited to release a new video in a long time. The Dash 7 is an extremely cool and capable aircraft, and it has long been on my bucket list. But with only 113 ever produced, and so few still in service, I didn’t think there was ever going to be a situation that allowed me to fly on one, let alone be able to film it and a share it with all of you. But thanks to the awesome team at Air Tindi, that is exactly what I was able to do! Also, if you were wondering what the weather is like in Yellowknife in January, the “feels like” temperature on the day of this flight was as low as -40F. I may have almost given myself feet frostbite to film this video, so please enjoy it 😂!

It was an absolute pleasure to have Skylite productions up to Yellowknife to check out our operations. We have a unique fleet of aircraft, operating in a unique environment. I'm glad he was able to get back home with all his fingers intact and to continue producing great content!
Insane.. -40F.... my arthritis will take over. Dash 7 is well known for more capable for shorter landing, harsh weather and more. I have been looking for a well filmed Dash 7 and you are the first one to film in such pristine filming. I applaud you, sir.

@@sla31 sweet! Now I have something to look forward to.
This was an outstanding experience. Such is your dedication that you truly go to the ends of the earth to bring us this! If I remember correctly this is the most remote place we've ever seen you go. I'm all but giddy that the Dash 7 is still alive and well, and doing its job in 2024! Air Tindi was really cool to have given you such a level of access. No doubt why you were so excited about this release! Yellowknife has a strange beauty to it; the backdrop of the sun upon that total void as the bird was doing its climb out was simply spectacular. Well done, sir!

Thanks my friend! I’m glad you enjoyed it! Air Tindi was awesome. It was super fun to fly around with them for a few days. I’d love to go back some day, but preferably in the summer 😂. More to come from this trip!

@@sla31It's settled... we'll see you in the summer! 😃
What a unique view! Instead of the engine, it's the landing gear! ^^
YEESSSS!!! I’ve been looking forward to this since the announcement! ❤

That was so special! I know those good people at Tindi love what they do, and they showed you a really good time! They seem very enthusiastic about what they do, and I'm glad you came back unscathed. @@sla31
Outstanding, worth the wait! Thanks for braving the insanely cold and brutal weather! 👍👍
As an ex Brymon Airways Customer Services Supervisor and London City Airways Duty Manager I was hoping that I had flown on this one many times. But alas No is the answer. This example C/N 9 was used by Emirates Air Services and Air Greenland. But a Dash 7 still sounds the same and it brought back many memories. Great video as usual from Skylite Productions.

Thanks my friend. More Dash flights coming up, including an engine view, but they were all on this same tail. So unfortunately, it sounds like none of them will be any of the ones you’ve been on.
Very cool - literally

I had never experienced cold like this… My hat is off to those who live there and work in it every day. I don’t know if I could do it haha 😂
Ah, the DHC-7...the hijackers plane of choice! Also, I wondered if that was the sunrise or just Canada being on fire again 🤔 Great upload! Thx!
Absolute great video mate. I like the Dash a lot. I was lucky to have several unplanned flights with the Dash-7 of Berjaya Air. Booked was only Subang - Tioman - Subang but in the end I had one full day in the Dash with two refueling stops in Johor Bahru 10 go arounds in Tioman and return to Subang in the evening. On the next day we landed on Tioman at the first attempt. Wind was on that day out of limits and all tries to land were aborded. For me it was one of the best aviation days of my life, even holiday started with one day delay.

@@sla31 It was really a perfect flying day, because it was really rare event. On no other day the plane had difficulties to land. But unfortunately this flight is not offered anymore.
Nice looking plane! I've flown on many of Air Canada's Dash 8 aircraft (including the 300) but never flown on the Dash 7. Great views of the far north. Looks peaceful but cold!

There were no visible seats when you boarded, did they put them in after? Was this an empty flight to pick up materials at the mine?
@sla31

So, Air Tindi can operate the Dash 7 with a variety of layouts. From all passenger, to half passenger/half cargo, to almost all cargo. I say almost because there are two seats on the Dash 7, that are not removable and they are fixed in place. That would be where I was sitting on this flight. It was me and the loadmaster/flight attendant in those two seats and the rest of the aircraft was full of cargo. Out of privacy and respect for the company who chartered the aircraft, I didn’t show any shots with their cargo.
nice nice nice nice nice nice

Great fly! Do you ever replace your battery on your MacBook and iPhone?

iPhones, no. I never keep them long enough to need it. My MacBook Pro, yes. I have replaced the battery once in the nearly 10 years I've had it.
Plane saver?
Cargo only?
@sla31

This flight was in a combi layout. Mostly cargo with 2 seats left in. One for me and one for the fa/loadmaster. Air Tindi can configure the Dash 7 however the customer wants.
Bro, where are the seats??? XD
