4K Freight Trains & Port Botany Container Trip Trains on the Sydney Freight Network.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

English - Sydney has a network of freight lines that run from freight yards along with the Southern Freight Line from Sydney's south. The whole idea of the freight network is to allow as many freight trains as possible to run during the morning and afternoon peaks. Before hand, there would be no freight trains during these times as there would be a curfew due to the amount of passenger trains from Sydney Trains and New South Wales Trainlink.
You will notice some new titles along the bottom of the presentation giving some extra information about the diesel locomotives featured in the video.
The line featured in this presentation runs from the rail freight yards at Enfield through to Port Botany. For train enthusiasts, there is a steady stream of Port Botany Container Trains from the local Sydney Freight Yards throughout the day and light engine movements as well. There are three main operators - Pacific National, Qube and LINX. Other freight trains also use the freight lines as well.
A list of trains is below -
00:22 - LINX Trip Train - Diesel Locomotive Locomotive G516
03:46 - Qube Light Engine Movement - 1100 Class Diesel Locomotive 1107
04:33 - Qube Trip Train - Locomotive MZ 1432
06:17 - Pacific National Light Engine Movement - Diesel Locomotive NR26 Indian Pacific to Central for The Indian Pacific Passenger Train (Titles say NR27)
06:42 - Qube Trip Train - Diesel Locomotive MZ 1433
08:48 - Pacific National Minerals Train - Diesel Locomotives TT104 TT113
11:22 - Qube Trip Train - Diesel Locomotive MZ1429

I'm a fan of those independent rail mz class locos.they sure pull hard on workloads.& i also saw them at the Minto freight terminal.but their skins rust a little bit.

15:26 That Pacific National, #8254 was effectively "light engine"! There wasn't any cargo whatsoever(unless it was invisible! LOL)

V/Line is a government-owned corporation that operates regional passenger train and coach services in Victoria, Australia. Who was it sold to ???

V/Line Passenger is still state owned after the National Express debacle. Freight was sold of years ago and what's left of it is now owned by Pacific National

I noticed the overhead masts with no wires, were the freight lines through there ever electrified?

The freight line between Enfield and Meeks Rd Junction was wired until (fairly) recently. Used by Illawarra freights from 1986 until the end of electric freight in Sydney about 20 years ago. BTW it's Cooks River, not Cooks Creek. Can't say it's worthy of being called a river - Sydney treats it like an industrial drain, but there we are.

No G class is based on the BL class. Infact the first 5 G Class were BL class that were originally destined for ANR back in the day
