No one like her has every existed, or is likely to in the future, Angelina Jordan.

For me this is simply a fantastic dream journey in which Angelina accompanies and transports us thanks to her incredible talent and an indescribable voice. The passion, the feeling, the sensitivity and the sweetness that her voice transmits is something unique that chains you and penetrates you deeply, I love this song and the wonderful re-reading that Angelina gives us.💛🧡❤

If we ignored this arrangement it would be a great lack of appreciation in my opinion. That has to be said. Angelina will change the world of music soon enough. We need to remember that love drives her work to new heights for us to enjoy. The awards coming from her music will spread to include every one involved. And I can’t wait for the agape love to spread throughout our wonderful world. Every time the world spins a complete rotation will become a better day.

AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years, and toured with Streisand, accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California played the guitar, and was the MC of the show. Rob has been working with AJ from the very 1st day Republic signed her at age 14. (I can't list the complete backgrounds on all the band members because it would take several pages to do them justice.) Angelina stated that she would rather perform than take a breath, and she has never been forced to perform, it has been her decision. Angelina Jordan is top priority for both Stargate Production Co. (Beyonce, Rihanna, Sam Smith), and the largest record company in the world, Republic. AJ's first album for Republic is supposed to drop sometime in mid 2023

I feel quite sure "Ol` Blue Eyes" has been smiling ever since Angelina, at age 9 (or barely 10), did her first version of this song. Her two versions makes a clear and wonderful statment of her amazing skills back then, as they shows her stunning development of skills and controll in these years. She totaly impressed me with her first young take on this. Her newest version makes me take off, ascending into a better world of pure beauty and joy. I can`t wait for the versions she`ll bring inthe next 10 years time.

There has never been a voice like this it evokes a divine remembrance of what's been forgotten yet there it is pouring out of this magical , beautiful young lady so much love.

I completely understand your plight with regards to your reaction. Her voice is so calming, so mesmerizing, so utterly inexplicably beautiful there’s nothing to say. I’ve listened to this at least a hundred times and I’m still left gobsmacked every time I hear it. I just want it to go on. There’s no doubt she’s the best singer on the planet by far. Once in a century talent.

Being there is only around a hundred years of recorded music, I would say she absolutely the Greatest of All Time in our recorded history. Absolutely no one has done what she has done.

I think Mr Sinatra would appreciate it for the vocal Masterpiece that it is.. To me this is Angelina’s finest work.. I’ve listened to the all time greats cover this … Sinatra , Streisand, Ella. .. All amazing but Angelina has taken singing to a whole new level of sophistication… she surpasses the all time greats..

About her singing covers: She breathes life into them. Simon said she made Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” relevant again. I feel like she does this with every song she covers. It’s really a positive thing for the culture, like making the past relevant to the present, helping us make that connection through music. A lot of these older songs, I never really listened to them until I heard her sing them. She’s helped me appreciate my culture’s heritage in a way I hadn’t before.

I also love her version of the full song she did back in 2-14-16 when she was 10 and it was amazing and she was only 10 sitting and singing for her grandma Mery with just a cel phone mic. I gotta tell you, when I first heard this, if I had to comment specifically on this or that, I would have been a blathering idiot. There is so much in here that is not obvious or overt, but that is so, so good. You speak at some length here of the power that she has developed. What really settled on me was not just how beautiful it is when she turns up the dial on her power, but how sparingly she uses this. Like other sonic arrows in her quiver, she is thoughtful and intentional to use it when it is called for and when it is appropriate, and no more. This sense of good taste is nearly as rare as her golden voice.

He would probably be OVER the moon knowing that the old jazz and crooner classics are safe at least for another generation through her. This is my 2nd favorite performance by her, only slightly beat by her cover of Lauren Daigle's "You Say", which she performed on her Christmas live stream concert on Dec 23rd 2021. This performance is high up in my list of Angelina's work. It's so beautiful, delicate as she dances from note to note and dancies around the melody and plays with the rhythm and her voice

While you were reviewing, I remembered that she has a reputation for doing songs in one take. Practice sessions are for her accompaniment, she does not seem to need them. Doing this in one take is more than I can comprehend. BTW, have no idea for this particular song, how many takes were needed.

Excellent review Mr. J Show, You are absolutely right when you say that Angelina doesn't make covers but, with the updates of these wonderful songs, she has a very precise choice of covers, none of them trivial and makes those changes that only her talent possesses and makes them unique, of this I have heard almost all the versions of excellent singers but, how Angelina interprets it is beyond imagination, among other things it is your version more accurate than the one you sang at 10 or 11 years old in which there was a wonderful intro that you rarely hear, thanks again, good life Massimo

Thanks for the lack of phony theatrics. There comes a point with all reactors doing AJ reactions when they've already said everything that can be said about her. They all run out of adjectives after a little while. There is only so much that CAN be said about her, so you are left with simply enjoying her mindblowing performances, the chills, the feels, etc.......

Every time I listen to someone else sing this I return to hear Angelina’s 16 year old version and realize that no one else can even come close. I think it was on American Idol or The Voice the other night and the judges were wild about the way the contestant sang this song. It was very good so I decided to compare it to AJ’s since it had been a while, so after the show I listened again ( it was really good, shortened for the show of course), and then I played the Boris Pavlenovski version of My Funny Valentine ( the one here I think), and realized from about the first five notes that it was like the difference between a Volkswagen and a Porsche! You just forget, until you hear someone else cover the same song, how much more accomplished she is at not only singing, but doing the arrangements to the materials she performs. She is a true Wizard!

Have you tried Beth and Joe doing “I’d Rather Go Blind” from Live in Amsterdam?

Angelina's mom Sara is very concerned as to how she is perceived, which was evident by the numerous Amy Winehouse songs she had Angelina change the lyrics to. 'Back To Black' became 'Back In Love', and 'Rehab' went away from a drug related song to one where Angelina made it about not wanting to go to school in place of Amy's not wanting to go back to Rehab. Here, the vocals are so 'sultry' that you would think a 'sensual' lounge singer was singing it. So what does Sara do? Something she's never done before, and that is by 'over dubbing' the vocals over the visuals. The result is the viewing listener doesn't misinterpret the song having sexual connotations, but simply a teenage girl day dreaming as she meanders through an antique furnishing store, which I'm sure Sara wanted the song to convey. Not an easy task when you realize Angelina looks like an adult 'Persian Princess'.

This version is technically close to perfect, but it does not give me chills like her 2016 version. More heartfelt and raw, more Chet Baker, less Sinatra 😊
