    @@maximilianobartomucci6044 Nah, it would look like a circle. Just not a circle from above. Like if you would walk around a round tower. Same as that a sphere 'looks' like a circle to use, but in our 3d universe we can observe it as a sphere.

  • @maximilianobartomucci6044

    @maximilianobartomucci6044

    14 күн бұрын

    @@koek4539 Well sure, the 2D observer could know it's a circle by walking around the "line" and noticing it's got the same width from any angle, but it would still look like a line. Maybe they could also guess a curvature in the line by observing the gradient formed by the light reflecting from it, like we do. But honestly, I think they wouldn't be able to "see" anything in the first place, consider they lack the vertical dimension in it's entirety (imagine it in pixels, no matter how much width they could perceive, X by 0 is always 0, nothing there for them to see)

  • @CandiceGoddard

    @CandiceGoddard

    11 күн бұрын

    @@maximilianobartomucci6044 I don't understand. The two dimensions are length and breadth, right? So that doesn't suggest orientation in terms of it's placement in space whether vertical or horizontal, so surely it would depend where the 2D observer is in relation to the circle. If a 2D observer and the circle are both horizontal but one is at a different height in space like directly underneath, why can't they "see" each other? The dimensions of the observers don't change the dimensions of the space around them. I think the observer would not be able to see because eyesight requires three dimensions since light is reflected off the lenses inside the eye creating vision. If someone's eye were flat or 2D, they couldn't see. The third dimension is not "vertical" but depth, right? Like a piece of paper has a length, breadth(width) and depth (thickness). What confused me in regard to this video is that I that the 4th dimension was time and I don't understand how that relates to an optical illusion of zooming a camera into three different balls.

  • @jeremy49

    @jeremy49

    11 күн бұрын

    I think a good way to think about is it is if you cut a circle in a piece of paper, then passed a ball through that hole. If the paper is your line if site, you would only see a line, no matter where the ball is, with a maxinun length equal to the diameter. Just like how now matter what you do, a 3d ball will forever be 2d on your tv

    Not sure thats what 4d really is, it's just an object in 3d moving straight towards you. The 4th dimension as i've learned is the dimension of time. Setting up a meeting in different dimensions: 1D = "Lets meet halfway (of this line)" 2D = "Lets meet at the mall." 3D = "Lets meet at the malls 2nd floor" 4D = "Lets meet at the malls 2nd floor at 3 o clock" And 5D is already meeting the person at the mall at 3 o clock even tho he is at home one year earlier. 5D is outside of time and space

Show a level curve map to your average Joe and it's pretty unlikely they'll understand it, even tho they know what a mountain is. Well, the 4th dimension is time, so moving through the 4th dimension is living through time. (And there really isn't such a thing as a 4D sphere, like there is no such thing as a 3D circle.) Basically you assume that the property of the sphere in the 4th dimension is that it expands. It may not do that. The best way to represent this may be a change in color, indicating that a change in the age of the sphere has occurred. Another way to represent moving through the 4th dimension is a time-lapse of a child growing up-you'd see the child getting bigger but also older.

    Well people believe a lot of dumb shit so I guess we're just going to have to leave you with your incorrect belief just like we're trying to do with all the religious garbage that makes people think the earth is flat or that covid makes people magnetic. You have had things explained to you very poorly and then assume it is difficult to comprehend when it simply takes time to do so. No one is insisting that you grasp this immediately. It will take time and if you take a deeper look into recursion, an essential topic for understanding computing, you will be well on your way to understanding this topic and will be able to graduate to understanding further dimensions. So don't cut the tree down before you've let it grow into it's full size and you won't be left without any firewood. You are speaking too soon. Cavemen would likely be able to operate wifi given the opportunity, and since you didn't build any of the wifi devices that you use, you also don't know how wifi works, but you use it nonetheless, so you're essentially a caveman and lumping everyone else who would stand with you in your ignorance with yourself as being part of your cave family. I'm pretty sure I'm coming across as rude here, but you are plain wrong, and you will understand this if you take the time to examine it from all the sources available. Hilariously this includes watching doctor strange, so at least some of it will be pretty fun to do.

    Sure we'll never be able to fold into a fourth dimension, but we can come to a certain understanding of what it means. If you would like to I would jump into the idea of 2d beings and what it'd be like to be one, or to see one as a 3d being. That's a whole lot easier to understand, and by understanding it you will understand a bit more about 4d space.

    Note: the 2D people would only see a line because they themselves can only see to what is blocking their view and they couldn't see the rest of the circle that is growing and shrinking. Kinda like if we were to look at a log with no texture and shadows we'd just see a brown rectangle. The only reason we know there is something behind the log is because we can look to the sides of it and see shadows and through past experience we know for certain that putting something in our view doesn't make everything behind it disappear. A 2D being may also have some similar precognition that makes sense in their 2D world.

    the idea that some of our objects might just be a 3d 'cross-section' of a larger 4d object is kind of insane. If we didn't know about like, density of particles, that could feel like a source of objects having different masses. But that would mean something was locking them all into place so they couldn't move in that direction anymore, since things don't just grow on their own...

    Please search into orthodoxy. orthodoxy is the first church. The body of Christ. We need the Body of Christ and Eucharist.❤☦️ (John 6:53-58) Jesus is the only way to heaven, just being a good person won’t get you there, while yes doing what God said is requiered. Search into orthodoxy afterwards but first read this. Before you read these next things i want you to know that christianity isn’t about worshiping some deity in the sky because you dont want to go to hell, it’s about a loving and friendly relationship with God. God loves us soooo much no one can understand it. God wants you to tell Him everything, because He is soooo loving. Altough He knows it all He wants you to trust Him and be honest with Him and listen to Him. So now that i told you this read these Bible verses (the word of God) knowing that i’m telling you this out of love and i want you to know it’s not too late to turn and repent and follow Christ❤️❤️❤️ „Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 ESV Bible Repent from your sin (disobedience to God) and turn to God and follow Him so that you WILL be saved. „If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 ESV „No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” Luke 13:3 ESV „For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 ESV ❤☦️

    Think of it as preservation of mass in a pocket dimension. We cannot directly observe the mass, but we can be certain it exists according to the rules of conservation of mass. Alternatively, visualize it by picking a 3D direction and pretend it's a fourth-dimensional direction. Anything moved in that direction cannot be seen from any other angle.

    @@Kraziizwould not 4d world be visualizing the sphere as infinite spheres attached as if a snake of spheres? Basically a time lapse of the sphere moving. But we would see everything in time lapse. Essentially being able to visualize a tree move over time but some how all the swaying over time is one visual image. 4dimension would not be able to visualize "over time". What we see as time lape would some how be seen as stationary by 4d.

    I don't know if this helps, but the way it was explained to me was that if you saw a 3D sphere passing through a 2D plane, you would see growing circles (not a line) until you got to the center, after which you would start seeing shrinking circles. From there it follows that if you were to pass a 4D spheroid through a 3D plane, you would see growing 3D spheres (until you got to the center), though ofc there's no way for the human mind to comprehend what that shape would even look like.

    In 2D, you can't look from "above", otherwise know as the z axis in 3D, to see the circle. 2D is a single plane which you can only view the x and y axis'. So if you were on this 2D plane, you would see a line getting longer and shorter as the 3D sphere passed through your plane. I learned this reading a book call Flatland. On this 2D plane, you could only tell what other shapes were, based on their shadows and shading of each side.

    I imagine that this 4D spheroid is like a collection of all those 3D sphere cross-sections. Take all those 3D cross-sections (the more the better). Take hundreds, thousands of them... Now, let's make all those 3D cross-sections somewhat half-transparent (so we can see into them and behind them), and then stacking them all on each other very, very, very tightly. I would look like a normal ball (having the size of that biggest cross-section) but becoming denser and less transparent as looking deeper towards its center. It's like 4D shapes have a "double depth" to them. It's so hard to explain, and even more to imagine. It must look so bizarre.
