4Chan VS Scientology

Ойын-сауық

4Chan VS The Church of Scientology, also known as Project Chanology was a stand against some of the wrongdoings of the church. 4Chan's elite group Anonymous takes on the struggle, with an insane part of internet history in 2008.

    Simple, just drain the ocean. (Take down the site). Granted that is really hard in of itself, and probably has lots of nasty side effects (like draining the ocean would), but least it’s actually possible.

    That's the crux though. 4chan is everyone, good or bad. Most of it is an online hurtbox and that's the best possible thing it could be, where the rest of the internet is pampered and coddled. People from every country, every class, every profession, religion, ethnicity, language, political ideology, it's literally a microcosm of everyone. You will see the most unimaginably horrible and wonderful things, the clearest and most uplifting truth and the most degenerate lies. One thread that's a verbal caged deathmatch, and one thread over a hugbox of anons talking another anon out of suicide. One thread with Elon crowdsourcing ideas about restructuring Twitter and seeing it implemented the next day, another helping a North Korean hacker defect via GPS guiding through uninhabitable areas and letting the South Korean ROK Marines know where to pick him up and that he's a legit dude and he got out unharmed. That's the reason behind the "lurk for 2 years before posting" rule.

    My human communications professor was a recruiter for scientology for many years, using that communications degree to try and indoctrinate as many celebs into it as possible. Eventually she started realizing how bad it was, and like.. she was really in deep with the scientologists, like "inner circle" type stuff. Once the church caught on she even talked about getting sent to some camp thing out in the desert to try to heal her or whatever. When she finally escaped she lost everything. No friends, had to divorce her husband, a lot of seriously crazy stuff.

    That "crazy desert thing" is when the church gives the disillusioned member an opportunity to rededicate themselves to the organization, and if they decline, out in the wilderness they can do whatever they want, and dump their starved, cockroach bitten body at a hospital with a compromised Scientologist doctor who will lie on the cause of death certificate. Im presuming she didn't go, thankfully. Either that, or she knew what she was going into and let the organizers know her friends and family would instagate an investigation if she didn't come home.

    TLDR: my family was almost hitmanned by Scientology due to my fathers journalism job. I’m an Italian and my dad is a journalist, living in a country this traditional and this tied to “traditional” Christianity Scientology doesn’t have much of a presence in people per se (most normal citizens will probably have heard of it but not many know that much of it) but it does have a strong presence in bureaucracy and anything related to the church. Anyways my dad once wrote an article on a dude who had just passed away due to a heart attack, he was member of Scientology. While doing the article he accidentally found out some details he shouldn’t have found out (he never actually told me what he had found) and due to this he started receiving death treats addressed to him, my mother, my sister and me. We where put under surveillance by the anti-terrorism department and the death threats stopped however, once the officers deemed it fit, the protection ended and Something like a month later my dad notices a blue car that he had already seen like 3 times in the past 2 days. At this point he was just stressed and didn’t really want to keep having to deal with this (and mind you he was in a bar or something in a crowded area) so he basically went right up to the car and knocked on the window, the people inside didn’t roll down the window they just drove off and my dad has never seen someone follow him again. So that’s how my family almost got hitmanned by Scientology

    Sir. I don't think that your family almost got hitmanned by scientology. It would have been an almost hitman attempt had they ... idk, fired a weapon? Did something that was surely deadly BUT missed the target? A death threat and a car isnt an almost hitman. Its like me saying that I almost had an accident with a truck because I drove past one ... BUT YOU KNOW A FEW METERS TO ONE SIDE AND A FEW KILOMETERS SLOWER AN HOUR AND IT WAS AN ACCIDENT FOR SURE. I just hate when people stretch the facts. Black mail and death threats are not ' almost hitman ' they're black mail and death threats. I dont get rich each time I get a paycheck. I get a paycheck.

And btw by saying that my father obtained the malevolent attention of an organisation who is known to have silenced people I’m saying he was in a position which could have led him to be hitmanned. If you encounter a robbery on the sidewalk, on the exact route you take every just minutes before or after you usually pass in that street, even though you weren’t yourself robbed you could say that you were almost robbed, or am I wrong sir?

    The issue of Scientology's Tax Exempt status is rooted in two specific areas: A ) Scientology is is considered a Religion. America has always had a very liberal and expansive acceptance of what is defined as a Religion. A Religious organization that meets the requirements of IRC Section 501(c)(3) are automatically considered tax exempt and are not required to apply for and obtain recognition of tax-exempt status from the IRS. Scientology is "extremely" protective of this IRS Tax Status as a Religion. B ) Congress since 1913 has allowed the IRS to exclude Religious Organizations from Federal Tax because they consider them the same as a charity. This believe originates in the long standing history the Christian Churches had with their communities going back to the birth of the US, and to this day many provide social services, such as shelters and food pantries. Additionally, exempting churches from taxation is seen as a clear separation of the church from the state. In exchange for their tax-exempt status, churches are supposed to refrain from engaging in political activities, however since the Reagan and Bush Presidency, in an effort to acquire an additional conservative voting block, the function of some Churches in the political arena has come under larger scrutiny. The loss of Scientology's Federal Tax Exemption would mean their eventual demise, so this is their true Achilles Heel. If Scientology ( or any other Religious organization ) can be shown to have no real social or charitable function, that the vast amount of their funds remain within the organization, and if there is proof of a pattern of intended falsehood, or a provable pattern of Scientology supporting a specific political agenda or party, then they are liable to lose their exemption. The larger question of why any Religion should have a Tax Exempt status is a socio-political one that we as a people need to consider.

  • @Metatr0n

    @Metatr0n

    2 күн бұрын

    If the tax exemption for churches is based on the assumption that the "church" does charitable things and uses their income to give back to the community, then that is part of what defines a "church". If one can prove that Scientology does not do charitable things and does not use their money to give back to the community, then one can deduct that therefore Scientology is not a church. If they're not a church, they're not tax exempt.
