Thanks again love what you're about keep it up ! ✌!!!!

    in the vid has 80/80lbs. usually 80/110lbs. around 50/50 compression /droop, with tray (bed) on, not that it weighs much. 12" travel. you'll need to higher spring rate on an xcab, esp if planing on putting anything on the back. mine will sit on the bumps with 4 mud tyres on the tray.

    I'm pretty sure there are conversion kits to swap 4A-GE engines into Suzuki samurais. Its a very common swap. Never seen an adaptor plate for a hilux box though. There's a company in Australia that makes swap kits for almost anything. I don't remember what they're called though.

    Do you have any estimate on the numbers for the "low" and "high" anti-squat percentages? I know it can be difficult to know the exact numbers because you need to know the CG. This thing sounds great!

  • @Garage4age

    @Garage4age

    2 жыл бұрын

    Roughly 60% to start with and a bit over 100% after adjusting From memory I went 1 more hole after i filmed those clips. Over 100% sounds wrong since it still squats in the rear, but its the front pushing the rear down much like a fwd car does. In 2wd the rear separates. The front has limited adjustment, due to stuff being in the way. but i dont think its too far off

    @@Garage4age Good point about the front. With both axles driving the combination of front end lift and rear end squat both contribute to pitch the vehicle up and back.

    Thoughts on increased anti squat, then affecting the trucks ability to control bumps (keep wheels on the ground) when under full throttle?

  • @Garage4age

    @Garage4age

    2 жыл бұрын

    I think it will depend on the situation, If blasting across bumps at speed speed it will probably worse, as want to keep the front up. probably more so if trying to do jumps, as at the moment the front is what is compressing the rear, much like fwd car does. as it has over 100% anti squat in rear. so in 2wd. or 4wd when front off the ground the rear is going to want to separate. slower (still full throttle) stuff and hill climbs it should be a lot better, both grip wise and not wanting to flip over backwards. maybe slightly more harsh

    i built my truck because of you!!! lol.....done a couple of 1uz conversions,but when i saw the vid of your truck pulling through ANY amount of shit and slurry,that was it...i was sold!!! that's what we have in the uk, mud and lots of it,no rock crawling here. 4age's are rediculous money here in the uk let alone the cash to tune them,so i went for the VAG 1.8t as cheap as chips over here,and tunable to rediculous power for pennies....anyhow, power plant runs like a dream,but suspension is feckin HORRIBLE!!! have you got a build spec or build thread where i can basically copy what you have done to the running gear,as you seem to have it DIALLED!!!!! been through most of the comments on most of your vids,and found your spring rates (good start),but what about shock valving? and how does it handle on the road? (i do a lot of motorway miles) sorry if you're offended that i'm basically copying your truck,but please take it as a HUGE compliment!!!, what you've built is what i want....who wouldn't,lol if you can be arsed to watch,here's a vid of my build...kzread.info/dash/bejne/aK6rlNKnc6jffNo.html really hope you answer this post and can direct me to the info i'm looking for bud....and get some more vids up, can't get enough of this thing!!!! cheers, Gary.

  • @Garage4age

    @Garage4age

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey. the spring rates are basically set to have around 50% droop. so depends on weight and what you are doing with it , for what rate you will need. rest of its in the shock tuning. I run more compression and less rebound damping than the factory settings on the radflo shocks. also use the hydro bump stops for a bit of a poor mans bypass shock. to ramp up the spring/damping at end of travel. its not great on the road, mostly due to the fast rebound on the shock. also you will want to use some long travel swaybars if going to soft springs. if you google kpr's hilux it should come up

    Have a drivetrain question If you don’t mind. What tire size diff ratio and axle shafts are you running. I’ve got a jzx100 Jz swapped into my 87 xtra cab twin locked on 35s. last year did 529 diff gears. I have had zero drive train damage over the last 4 years but when I’m wheeling it I do take it easy try not to shock load my stock axels. Just curious what you’re running seams like you don’t baby yours
