4age 16v rebuild: Part 1

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Im installing the crankshaft using new ARP main bolts and MRP main caps. I upgraded to ARP bolts and MRP main caps because I wanted to make the bottom end stronger for track use. Forgot to install the oil squirters in this build. BEFORE you install the crank makes sure to install the oil squirters first!!!

In Jamaica (diy) we just wash the parts in fuel / gas and use very fine / low grade sand paper on none delicate areas areas ...

I have to rebuild my 4AGE in my mr2 I'm curious how much it cost to have the block and or head machined?

It was about $1000 for the short block hot tanked, and the internals of the block (pistons, rods, and crankshafts) checked to makes sure they are still within spec usable for the rebuild. I tore down the block and sent it to the machine shop disassembled to cut down on labor cost. Took about 1.5 months before it got my block back. With the head, I paid $600 from eBay. I found a rebuilt big port head, and I just had to exchange my core for it plus $600. I replaced all the internal bolts, bearings and rings.

Do you win any money by racing?

Nope. In grassroots or amateur racing you don't get money, but there are contengicy programs. So depending where you finish in a race you can get tires, brakes, or other parts. The series championship race there is prize money but its not a lot, $1000 or less.

@@chamba3998 depending on which kind of brake cleaner your use, it may leave residue after the solvent evaporates. It's better to use acetone or mek. Acetone will not leave residue and it's cheaper. Buy a solvent wash bottle and just refill it instead of cans brake cleaner.
