    If you are worried about getting off the line, put Pearsall in motion. Cooper Kupp is in motion over 50% of his snaps, And if he isn't in motion Puka Nacua usually is. Sound familiar

    I swear Larry didn't watch film of Pearsall at all. His film is filled with examples of him stretching out for poorly thrown balls, getting starched and holding on. I get questioning his contact balance, ability to get off the line, or long speed but not that.

    So the Niners were interested in Slick Rick last year also. They've been watching him for a long time and have much more insight than someone who just learned about him recently. They also have a plan that isn't shared with podcasters. I'm excited to see how it turns out.

    @@OntheHook55 They didn't. It's clear that they like Jake Brendel more than draftniks, including Larry do. If they didn't, they would have taken one of the two centers. I would have preferred Cooper DeJean but I think Pearsall will be just fine. He reminds me of Fred Biletnikoff, who went to Florida State. Their Height/Weight is roughly the same. Fred ran a 4.7 40 and played during an era when DBs could mug WRs. He did just fine.

    I dunnk. I read Aiyuks scouting report out of college. It said ge never gets more than average separation vertically. And I think we saw that on a lot of his downfield receptions. Guys on his backhip but brock throws a dime and it doesnt matter. Anyway Aiyuk only getting average separation deep sounds like it could be similar to Larry's concern about sustaining separation. It shouldnt be an issue. If Jauan Jennings runs a 4.6 and we dont worry about him i dont see why it should be a concern with Ricky running a 4.4

    My biggest question about Ricky Pearsall is the same question Krueg had when the niners drafted Jake Moody last year: "okay, but you spent a first round pick on a #3 / #4 receiver? That's terrible value for the pick."

  • @michaeld830

    @michaeld830

    13 күн бұрын

    According to who? Mock drafts, you? Lynch said they only had 21 first round grades. There aren’t 31 first round guys in a draft. So you go by the player highest available on your board. That was Pearsall. There was a major run on WRs to end the first round and start the second round. Who knows where Pearsall would have went? Almost guaranteed was a Top 40 pick. I trust Kyle and Jon to evaluate the talent

  • @SuperSupersoda

    @SuperSupersoda

    12 күн бұрын

    @@michaeld830 I don't trust Kyle and Jon, and you shouldn't either. We have 7 full years, and 8 full drafts to evaluate how they draft, and the results are in: they are terrible on the first two days, and the first 3 rounds and have been saved by their day 3 draft picks. They do a bunch of other things at an elite level: roster construction, allocating salary cap dollars, finding good system fits in bargain basement free agency, keeping all their options open, trades, and winning on day 3 of the draft, so they're a great front office, but if they have a weakness, it's the top of the draft. That's not to say that I don't like Pearsall as a player, I do, I just think its awful value for the selection.

    So according to Kreug, Pearsall wasn't invited for a visit to camouflage the 49ers interests? Would 49ers execs concur with this assessment? In a twisted way that kinda makes sense as the ones on their top 30 prospects list weren't even drafted. For example, Kingsley Suamataia was first among O-linemen on their top prospects visit list, giving him a second round grade. Xavier Legette was first among WRs on their top 30 prospects list. Thus begs the question, why didn't the Niners draft Legette in the first round and Suamataia in the second? Judging by the 49ers draft board coupled with their top 30 prospects, the 49ers did not intend on drafting an O-lineman in the first round and thus did not trade up. The irony is the 49ers foolishly traded down one spot in the second round, allowing the defending Super Bowl Champion Chiefs to pick up Suamataia. And instead of drafting hulking and speedy receiver Legette as they planned on doing, they reached and opted for the slight built Pearsall instead. The 49ers did not follow through on their plan to draft Legette. The 6'1" 225 pound Legette who despite being 35 pounds heavier than the 189 pound Pearsall is bigger, stronger and faster than Pearsall, clocking a 4.39 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine.

    Yet the biggest flaw in Leggett game is his route ability and not able to run precise routes. Something that Slick Rick excels at. Kyle doesn’t have time to develop legette on a team that’s in a win now mode.

    I have no worries about Pearsall. If Kyle wanted to trade up to get him he obviously has a plan for him mapped out already. I am more worried about Kyle and John Lynch's plans for the offensive line and corner backs and run stopping defensive tackle! There judgements there have been a lot more questionable! Do they have some depth that will help them in the post season this year when injuries starts creeping in?

    Brock Purdy to Ricky Pearsall is going to be one of the top QB/WR duos in the NFL for years to come. Here are just a few ways that will make the Purdy to Pearsall tandem so solid: • Timing patterns across the field ✔ • Quick hit passes with motion ✔ • Back shoulder timing passes ✔ • Wide receiver screen ✔ • Off schedule plays, where Purdy extends the play and Pearsall finds open space ✔

    😂 Thanks for the insights. Teams like a lot of players, but do they fit a team need. Take best player available vs take a player you like higher than his ranking. Remember Trey? While Pearsall might be a great slot WR, was he the greatest need at 31. Niners O-line was ranked #20-28. Brock ability to read/process quickly n his mobility might have saved them from ranking lower. Brock saved playoffs with his feet. Williams is 35+, he can retire anytime. Good OT are at top of draft. Good WR can be found anywhere in draft. Niners found Cowing in 5th rd. Krueg, said, WR may not be valued as highly anymore, can be found in draft or FAs. Head scratching, 1. Draft Pearsall, Cowing, sign UFA Owen's son, keep Jennings, Deebo, Aiyuk. Sign Taylor. There are 10 WRs for 5-6 roster spots. 2. Trade pick with SB rival, so they can pick a OT. When Kyle/Niners started, they build D-line thru draft (Armstead, Buckner, DJ, Bosa, Kinlaw, etc). Now, Niners build D-line thru re-treads (Hargrave, Farrell, Gregory, Young, etc) Works sometimes n doesn't sometimes. Couldn't stop run. Fell to #12 rank. DC has to build chemistry with a bunch of guys on 1-2 yr deals. These guys playing for their next contract. Bucky say, Pearsall draft was because of SB lost. WTF? Aiyuk only had a few targets. If the O-line can't give Brock time to throw, doesn't matter how many targets are open, he won't have time. Brock said, Niners surprised Chiefs played press coverage. My uneducated guess, Chiefs wanted to reduce Brock ability to read/processing quickly n to get more time to rush. While, Niners did address O-line in 3rd n 6th, why not pick higher in draft for better player. Last yr draft, only Moody started, he's not money or Robbie yet. Brown came in for Hufaguna. But did they trust him, bought in Logan. Kyle is the genius. Hopefully, everything works out.
