454 Chevy 11-1 dome pistons.

Just picked up some new pistons for the RV 454. SILV-O-LITE dome pistons that'll achieve 10.9-1 compression. Set up for floating pins. STD 4.250 bore, 1.645 comp height..340 dome. 5/16 5/16 3/16 ring pack. Around $350 shipped. Update, bought some 50cc dome forged TRW pistons to go in the 454 for 13.2-1 compression. Decided to build a drag only engine with it. These will go on the shelf for a future build.

Thanks for sharing the information brother. I'm getting ready to do something along same lines. I hear you on this cold weather, can't hardly keep shop warm

No problem man, glad to be a help. Cold weather definitely makes the process more difficult.

It should have some kick. Hoping to get in the 9s with it. NA. Still drive it to the store if needed. MPG will be terrible tho. Probably going with a 1050 Dominator on it.

Going in a gutted G-body that's pretty well dialed in.

Piston sits up higher in combustion chamber its that much less intake charge taking in also.

Price ya gotta pay to get a bigblock up on the compression. I've bought another set of pistons that are even bigger domes. 13.2-1 compression. It'll run pretty good. Should be in the 9s NA.

Those look pretty good and you could run open or closed chamber heads with them, have you put one on a scale to see what the weight is? I got a set of Keith Black hypers for a 427 and they are around 900 grams with the pins and locks, gonna use the procomp I-beams 6.135, the total weight comes in real close to a stock rod with a forged piston.

Hell yeah, I've used plenty of them KB pistons. Seem to hold up pretty good.

I just got the shit back from being balanced. Ended up using a 50cc dome TRW forged piston from back in the day. It's 866 grams with pin & locks. Bobweight total is 2365 with 4340 Eagle I-beams. Compression comes out to 13.2-1 with these slugs and clearances. Also using different rods & crank.

I'm also building a 427, got it balanced too and it's ICON pistons & pins & locks weigh 876 grams. Total bobweight came in at 2436 grams. Using GM Bowtie H-beams & 4340 crank. Also building a 496 and it's rotating assembly was the lightest of the three. 2202 gram bobweight. The smallest cube engine has the heaviest rotating assembly, the biggest unit has the lightest rotating assembly. Wouldn't have thought that. Using Wiseco pistons in the 496 with SCAT Pro I-beams. Also a 4340 crank. I was surprised how heavy the ICON 427 pistons are. Plus the H-beams are heavier too. I'm gonna turn it 8000+rpm tho. Using a 276/282@.050 solid roller in the 427.

You can do all that with flat tops too. Lower mechanical compression also has more swept intake volume charge. What all the know it alls don't know. 8.1-10.1 woop dee doo it's only 2 points. Not much difference. Your cam, breathing and cubes is going to dictate your power outcome

There's nothing you can tell me about this shit that I already don't know. Thanks for trying to educate a guy that's been building engines for over 40yrs for a living. This ain't my first rodeo. Built over 1000 of these fuckin things. But whatever.
