Great athletes!! The then weightlifting competition looked as exciting as the football World Cup!

It's impressive to see their last attempts in Clean and Jerk. They managed to clean well but they both missed jerk. Kurlovich cleaned a bit easier than Pisarenko did. Kurlovich's jerk seems to have been nearer to success than Pisarenko's. Pisarenko failed the third jerk because of his legs whereas Kurlovich had problems with his arms in his third jerk.

When super heavyweights actually looked like real athletes.

Pisarenko snatched 206 in his 3rd attempt. He looked stronger than Kurlovich, but Kurlovich's snatch and clean were impressive.

Very evenly matched athletes here. Hard to say, maybe Kurlovich just a hair stronger on this day.

dude almost jerked that 262kg in 1983, while being ~50kg lighter than lasha talakhadze, WTF? both these guys are around 125kg bodyweight. pound per pound they are stronger than talakhadze

Talakhadze is much more fatter and taller.This is the reason.

He then did 265 in 1984 with ease and Lasha broke that in 2017 with 267. Pisarenko said he was prepared to hit 280 and I believe him the 265 was so easy

i tell even crazier than this listen to me.. he jerked 266 and snatch 215 at 125 kg bodyweight :).. lasha 186 kg best lifts 225/275 your choice..

Курлович готов лучше, чувствуется потенциал спортсмена - упражнение выполняет чисто, без явного напряга. Писаренко готов хуже, его корёжит после каждой попытки. Еле-еле толкнув 245 кг пошёл на заведомо провальные 260, видимо понимая, что только загнав на запредельные веса молодого и более сильного Курловича можно обыграть его тактически за счет более легкого веса.

Stop the gay stuff. This is a sport of men, not sissys!!

These monsters should have both exploited their full potential by putting on more weight. 155-160kg and they would have set the "forever world records". They both clean and jerked 265, 266kg. Lasha Talakadze does 267 and weighs 55kg more.
