Great video. Straight to the point and about as close as you can get to a heads up comparison. They will never a be truly equal test as the rounds are so different. I really like this video, no double talk, no look at how much I know b.s. and the first time all with the same rifle and ammo. Good job sir.

450 bm in AR is one of my favorite all time guns to shoot. It's a shame more companies are not making big-bore magazines for the AR platform as the biggest hurdle is finding mags that will feed reliably. I hope someday we will have big bore mags that can hold and comfortably feed at least 10 rounds

There is few companies that make 10 rounders DuraMag is one. But if you Google 450 BM 10 round mag you'll find them. I just don't know how good they are.

@@308c For the 458 socom i only use D&H Aluminum mags. No problems whatsoever. Lancer 5 is also good mag. I'd stay away from poly mags for the Socom and would probably do the same for the Bushmaster. Plenty of info out there if you look around. Thanks for the vids man.. keep em comin :)

For my .450bm I use standard 30rd Lancer mags with no FTF issues or modifications. I know most people say shave off a Lil from the top or get a big bore follower and what not but I can say confidently that Lancer mags works the best they can hold and cycle 12rds but I feel 10 is enough

How many of each fit n standard 5.56 mag? And which is ar15 and ar10? I want which ever one I can build in the lightest form. Thank you

All will fit 10 rounds in a standard GI type mag, they don't fit in magpul mags. They are all AR-15 lowers. The weight will depend on the barrel, handguard type, and accessories you choose to put on it. 450 and 458 will have the lighter barrels. I think 450 BM is easier to find ammo for.

Hey there great vids! Interested in getting a 450 BM but I have a question for it though, i've done some research and internet says you can reload .45 ACP bullets to use for the 450. Have you done it? Any thoughts? maybe a good video if you do to compare and show differences? penetration, accuracy, cost?

Thanks! Unfortunately I have not started reloading for any of these yet. I do ste plan on using 45 acp bullets in mine when I start reading for it, but I honestly don't know if it's going to work or not.

I was interested in 450BM a while back and yes you CAN reload it with 45ACP bullets HOWEVER it wont expend as much or as good as the 450BM RIFLE bullets will.

I got a 50 Beowulf, trying figure out what scope that can handle the recoil. What do you use or what do you recommend?

I have an Ampoint Pro on mine. My 450 Bushmaster has a Sig Romeo 7 on it. Bushnell TRS-25 has helped up on all of my shotguns. I really like that one for the low cost and durability.

Mass x Velocity squared. Faster moving 450 has more power than the larger slower rounds and a smaller diameter on impact, which equals more penetration.

Their muzzle energies are all comparable and the diameter difference is small, especially on .450 or .458. The real difference isn't power or even diameter, but rate of transfer. Think stretching out gum vs yanking it apart instantly. Even if the same amount of energy is dumped, if it is dumped faster then it has a higher chance of getting through the target, yet also has to potential downside of dumping energy more quickly, meaning its subsequent penetration will be inferior. I'd imagine the heavier rounds will bypass more walls or punch through more ballistics gel, for instance.

I have a 50 Beowulf. Do you see any real advantage to the 458 SoCom?

The only advantages I can think of is the 458 has a little more range and there's more companies making ammo for it.

It's the Ampoint Pro.

The 450 was faster than the 50 by 600 fps. That’s why the results are favoring the 450. Not apples to apples. Ek=1/2m•v exp2 Although both mass and velocity contribute to the muzzle energy, the muzzle energy is proportional to the mass while proportional to the square of the velocity.

Its never going to be apple's to apple's comparison. However by using the same style off bullets, made by the same manufacturer, all of them loaded to their optimum capacity. You get a good idea of what they are capable of.

You can run them out of the metal GI type mags. P mags wont work.

I believe if your Beowulf 50 was shooting a 250 gr penetrator it would easily punch through both plates

@@norrisdillahuntjr4570 just get a little lathe and make your own projectiles. It's really low tech and you aren't going to get more ammo normally anyway. So, if you don't want to end up like the South African whites, Australians and Jews from Europe in the early 1940s you better get creative.

Why didn't you use a 300 grain extreme penatrator in 450 bushmaster would have been a more accurate comparison

These aren't reloads, everyone of them are loaded from the factory with those bullet choices. I personally would have loaded them with bullets that weighed close to the same.

What stock is that on the 458?

It's a ARFX Skeleton Stock. I got it form Brownells. You will also need a fixed A2 buffer tube if you get one.

The way to beat armor is by speed and the 450 has the greatest speed but if you want stopping power on the first shot then 50 Beowulf is good at that, for reference it’s like getting stabbed by a finger (450) or getting punched by Bruce lee (50 beowulf)
