How far do you think you can shoot with that load? 50 yards? I’d like to see how accurate the gun is at a bit of distance for deer hunting.

There are a few things affecting accuracy. Autoloaders as a rule just are not as accurate as revolvers, due to the sights are on the slide, not the actual barrel. Also, pistol bullets usually are not as accurate as rifle bullets. Manufacturers won't spend the effort since handguns are usually short range guns. 25 yards should be OK, 50 yards maybe. I can shoot this load at 25 and 50 in a week or so and see what I get.

I frequently load 45 Super. A few thoughts: Id really like to see a side by side expansion test on an equal media between the two bullets. Water jugs, gel, wet phone books, etc. Judging by the powder charge and bullet, this is probably in the 26000-27000 psi range, some room to push the bullet. I don't think 240 grains being pushed by longshot, enforcer, 800x wouldn't get to 1150 fps. Someone else asked what range would this be lethal to: human sized target? Probably several hundred yards, but who is going to shoot that with a pistol? Now, this bullet out of a 16" carbine on a rest, and assuming you can manage a consistent 3" group, deer at 100 yards is entirely reasonable.

The 240gr XTP MAG is pretty heavily constructed compared to the 230 gr XTP. As you say, using this at 100yds is a bit too far. A carbine would be cool. Hey, thanks for the info and Happy New Year!

Velocity kinda low for 240gr you should be closer to 1100 fps for 45 Super

Since there are no SAAMI standards, it is a bit subjective. Buffalo Bore has their 45 Super, 230 FMJ at 1100fps, so 1039fps for a 240 XTP is about correct. Thanks for watching!
