45# Monarq Korean Traditional Bow - New Bow Day [vlog/korean traditional archery]

Спорт

Today I shoot my new bow, this is the Daylite Archery Monarq in 45 pounds draw weight. I find it is a very fast and accurate bow and is a pleasure to shoot. I am still overbowed but I will do my best to conquer this bow as quickly as I can.
Bows: Monarq 45# Korean Traditional Bow
Arrows: Gold Tip Traditional 500 spine 100 grain field point

Hey I'm a Korean Traditional Archer in both genetics and years of research/practice on the subject. I can see your bow hand is not priming the tendons in the Korean method. If what you do is what you are happy with no criticism from me here but I would be willing to share my knowledge on that and the old archery breaths. You have no reason to trust me but I trusted you on the awesome wakizashi vids and it turned out alright 👍

How do you prime the tendons?

Thanks for the comment. I haven't been shooting since I moved house about 6 months ago. But up till then it held fine. The bow itself is still in decent condition and I'll probably pick up shooting again soon. Sorry I can't be of more help

What was your reasoning for choosing this bow over a traditional recurve? Great video as always.

I focus on Korean traditional martial arts so it was a no brainer to get a Korean traditional bow. That being said I've shot barebow modern recurve and I find this is more fun to shoot. Thumb draw makes it harder to aim but you can run and shoot and things like that

I would love a video on thumb draw! As someone who shoots split finger it seems impossible lol

Nice shooting! Is it possible to shoot while moving with any sort of accuracy?

Thanks! Yup it is. The thumb draw with a string twist locks the arrow to the side of the bow so you can move and shoot accurately. It's a skill I'm still working on

I've been shooting a 35# bow for a few months now and I'm also ready to step up in draw weight. Would yo recommend jumping to a 45# bow, or do you think it would still be best to just go with 40#?

  • @JustaBug

I felt overbowed with the 45 so I would recommend 40

    @@JustaBuggreat advise. I went from 38# to 42#. 45# was rough.
