Great video, I wish you were selling these, I'd buy every card at these grades. I feel sick every time I waste my money with PSA, so I'm switching to SGC (like everybody else), but you really got a grader trying to test your patience! My favorite comments were on the Tigers 1966 team card, "I quit"! lol At least you got awesome cards!

Yes, PSA is really grading hard these days.. seems like they are grading hard on vintage but soft on modern….. a vintage card to me should have different standards then a modern card… so yeah they dont do that so vintage cards have much lower grades then most collectors think.. good video.. enjoyed it...

I prefer SGC over PSA. I have submitted cards to PSA then cracked open and resubmit only to get considerably different grades. Sometimes higher, sometimes lower. Makes me think PSA just pulls a number grade out of the air.

I’ve had good luck with sgc grading the ones psa said were trimmed or mini size if you send them over there and do a video I’d like to see how you end up.

Enjoyed watching your video. Sharing a great hobby with your son has to be rewarding. You have some great looking cards! May I offer a few tidbits? 1. MINSIZERQ does not mean trimmed. It simply means the card's measurements do not fit their tolerances. It "could" be trimmed, but could be cut short from the factory. Measure the card. Sadly, if seen cards that get this designation, resubmitted and come back graded. The good thing is they do not charge you for these. 2. Please read up and familiarize yourself with PSA's centering standards. PSA is pretty clear with how they handle centering. A few comments about grades you received due to centering don't apply. Centering is rarely the sole culprit for a grade. There are easy ways to measure centering as well so you'll know for sure where it sits. SGC is a little different in how they view/handle centering. But I think a better understanding of that aspect will help you. 3. Focus on the surface of the card as much as corners when evaluating. PSA is tough on surface issues and very rarely do you find Vintage cards of that age to be without some surface flaws. One small flaw isn't a killer, but it does affect a grade. Plus, cards can have surface scratches that you won't see in normal lighting. Hold a card flat with light shining across the surface (and preferably no overhead light in the room) and you'll often see flaws that you won't even see under magnification. I hope these help a little bit. Keep collecting and enjoying that time with your son!

Great feedback and tips. I did keep saying trimmed, but I really meant minimum size. I usually send these back in and then they get a grade. Thanks again and all the best, Ronnie

@vintagecardnerd It's common for people to say trimmed. But the word has such a negative connotation (rightly so), I thought it would be good to clarify. I don't know your audience, so it may have been understood. But newbies to the hobby or grading might not know. Keep collecting!

Loved your video, you have a great collection, great story on how you acquired your '63 fleer checklist, probably not many 16 year olds can say they completed a 1963 fleer baseball set. Awesome displays for your graded collection. Oh and minsize does not mean trimmed, just like PSA and their inconsistent grading, Topps was inconsistent with card size, I think it's a great idea too send those off to SGC, if anything they'll put it in a slab with an A and note the minsize

Yeah, I kept saying trimmed. I got to stop doing that. So every time that I have gotten a minimum size from PSA (PleaseSubmitAgain) I send it to SGC and I get a number grade. Thanks so much for watching our video!

Min size requirement does not mean it's trimmed. Do you not measure your cards before you submit them? You probably should it would save you some money.

72' Nolan Ryan looks great. For it to get a 4 it must have a wrinkle or another surface issue? Either way all of your cards present very nicely. I would like to get a recount. I think your son outscored you. lol

I think you’re right on second thought he did edge me out. I looked at that ‘72 Ryan under a loupe and it is nm except that top to bottom centering and there is a very small amount of chipping on the right side border. Thanks for watching our video!

once again they show they aren't very good. They min sized cards that were pulled by me from a pack, cards I had 60 plus years. Topps cards were not laser cut back then. I never sent them another card.

PSA is so inconsistent. You can't figure them out at all. You tend to be grateful for some grades because they are higher than you expected, and then just shake your head with others that just don't make sense. Consider value loss because of their inconsistencies. Irreprehensible!!
