Do you have to clean your gun in any special way like the old revolvers with soap and water?

Pretty cool man. This weekend, we took out your 5in rifled .22 12g and the 20g adapters. They work great! Both of those fit into the survivor forearm perfectly on the single 12g pardoner for storage.

I bought two of the adapters for my dbl barrel 12 gauge. Ordered them on Tuesday, arrived Saturday. Read the instructions, put them in, went to the woods. Long story short, for 60 bucks, I got another gun, they work so well. Using pyrodex ffg , 85 and 80 grains of Shot 7.5 shot and BB’s. Patterns we good. A lot of shot on target. To clean, pop out the adapters and wash with soap and water, dry, oil. Break down the shotgun, wash barrel with soap and water, I also use a brass bore brush, dry oil, reassemble. I Love these things.😁

Anymore than the recommended 50 grains amount of Black powder and you risk injury and it does not improve accuracy at all.

True. You can also load a 410 shotgun shell with black powder. You have to play with the loading, but it ends up being equal parts by volume of shot and black powder, with just enough room for the wadding in between. Just ensure full compression of the powder and you will be fine. I did it all the time when shooting 12 gauge in cowboy action. It’s a little different with 410, but I ended up loading 4.3cc of PYRODEX RS black powder substitute (using a plastic Lee 4.3cc dipper), followed by a 1/8” nitro wad (about 2 cents apiece), a 1/2 inch fiber wad (about a nickel apiece in packs of 500 from MidwayUSA), 1oz of no. 7 birdshot, and an overshot card (cut using a cheap 3/4” paper punch on empty cereal boxes). The whole stack was exactly enough to fill the shotgun shell, which I would then crimp just as I would any other shotgun shell. The last step was to mark the primer on the back with a black magic marker, to distinguish it from my smokeless shells. After the match, I would clean the barrel and breach using a 10/90 ballistol/water mixture, and it was actually easier to clean than smokeless (but do it as soon as you get home from the range. Burnt black powder is hell on a barrel). If you want to be REALLY cheap, you can collect spent shells at the range (people usually just throw them away) and use the same 3/4” punch to cut the wadding out of corrugated cardboard boxes. Just stack up enough of them in the shell to where the 1oz of shot ends at the top of the shell, and use an overshot card as before (not necessary for buckshot, but birdshot is small and can fall through any gaps in the crimp, common with AA shotgun shells.

Normally the touch hole is very small, small enough to prevent black powder 2FF or 3FF from getting into it. I am assuming the adapter's touch hole is almost pin size if that's the case the proper and safe way to load muzzle loading rifles is the primer go in last after the powder, patch and shots.

Very cool idea. I notice you only use 50 grains of powder, where many muzzle loaders use 100 or 150 on the high side. Have you used 100 grains, and if so, any trouble from chamber pressure using black powder in a .410?

  • @juansteibel7428

Sounds cool, but loading a muzzleloader with a primer installed in the gun is a bit NO-NO when it comes to safety. And I can see how it is impossible to load and then open the breech to add the primer when the breech plug (adaptor) is not screwed and just sitting into the breech. I would love an affordable small game muzzleloader shotgun, but this is iffy IMO.

209 adapter works fine, but what I’ve seen was unsafe. The procedure is load first and then the primer. Primer should never be install in your gun while you load it. Thought I share with you. Be safe shooters.
