I find it funny that the Squats were eaten by the Tyrannids, because vehicles like the Capitol/Leviathan/Colossus/Cyclops seem PERFECT for breaking the tide of an oncoming Nid swarm! The armor shrugs off the biotitan artillery, the main cannons target the big synapse creatures, and the sponson cannons take out the smaller synapse creatures that try to get close. And you don’t even have to worry about maneuverability: just wait for the enemy to come to you!

In my opinion, the only way the League of Votann still live comes down to 2 possibilities: Either their planet/system got engulfed by a Warpstorm e.g. the Tau method, and as such were ignored/forgotten by the Nids who hunted "easier" prey; Or a handful of Squat ships got lost in the Warp for several millennia only to pop out sometime later.

Somehow the Infinity from Halo comes to mind
These are not super heavy tanks, these are the Emperor's holy Morkinaughts.
I can only recall 3 occasions where I've read 40k stories that actually feature these "ultra-heavies". Two of them were moments where Colossus tanks were used to kill similar-scale xenos, with one blowing the head off a rampaging Squiggoth, the other dueling a Tyranid Bio-Titan (as part of a Krieg taskforce, because only the Death Korps are mad enough to try something like that). The third was actually one that seemingly justifies the inherent paranoia of the Capitol Imperialis concept. In the novel "Baneblade" (good book, strongly recommend it), a force of Ork Kommandos manages to slip through Imperial lines and launches an attack on the Leviathan being used as HQ. One moment everyone's enjoying a formal banquet in the main dining hall (because aristocrats will be aristocrats), and then the next all the senior Imperials present are flying into a panic about the greenskins loose on their landship. It's not exactly an epic moment like the other two, but in the context of the book it's used as a nice demonstration of just how dangerously competent this particular horde of Orkz really are, that even such a valuable target as the Leviathan cannot be kept entirely safe.
I wish vehicles like these didn't break the laws of physics in the real world. Imagine having land ship combat
It's a castle with treads. We need more of this.
