The Savlar Chem-Dogs! decidedly one of the more unusual Regiments of the Imperial Guard as not only is it made up purely of hardened criminals, they also all near universally have heavy duty drug addictions!

One small technical correction, the Savlar Chem Dogs aren't a penal regiment, they're a regular numbered Guard regiment tithed from a penal world, admittedly this is for the most part a distinction without a difference (beyond it's members being volunteers rather than directly sentenced to service and thus lacking bomb collars) but there is one key point, as a tithed regiment there is a chance no matter how small that a Chem Dog could claim a world they've won via right of conquest and given the sheer size of there Imperium there's a world out there somewhere ruled and built in the image of a Chem Dog regiment...

As well Naval Armsmen and the Imperial Guard seem to routinely recruit from Prisons so I have to imagine while death penalties and conscription are regular the Imperium must have quite an extensive system of offenders that fall between the two, whether there's any systems for rehabilitation or whether said prison systems are maintained by local forces, Guard Regiments or a separate division of the Arbites is unclear.

You're looking at it wrong, likely fighting nids and living on the chemdogs homeword are probably equally or close in terms if shitty situations, but the appeal comes from the opportunities of joining the guard, there's no loot at home but in distant battlefields there is all sorts of loot, exotic and interesting foods, sight seeing and even a sense of accomplishment or purpose vs dying in a nothing death world.

Thing is people lack perspective, specially in Imperium. Many see their lives as utter shit, but only after you loose that or run into even shittier situation you realize it that you had things pretty good after all. Though this depends on what your priorities are. Other thing fans might not realize is that you really think they tell about nids to anyone just like that. Only after joining you get the emperors most holy toilet paper, guard mans uplifting primer that might give glimpse to horrors you'l be facing with incorrect information and that shit wont last after first contact with the enemy and that point its way too late to ask to be shipped back home.

For the latter planets it's much more a case of this galaxy spinning bureaucracy is giving untold billions the ability to sustain themselves and the vain hope of a better tomorrow because without it they would likely just die within a generation
Elves in the sponsor , that's a grudge....
Arch, by Girliman's buttcheeks, when do we get a video on the criminally underappreciated Commissar?
"Can you believe it guys? Some just left this lying about" ... "Is that a fucking Baneblade?!??".

Did anyone see where the Titan walked off to?
I always wanted to know more about the chem dogs so thank you very much on the video!
Finally! The Savlar Chem Dogs get some attention
Perfect subject for me I’ve just started re-reading guants ghosts ! Guard done well are superb great job arch as usual 🎉 👏
With enough chems you can turn up for DAYYS!!!
Love all your lore Arch. Hope to see Catachan Jungle Fighters sometime.
Your getting your old style back Arch, which is pretty nice to listen to.
Minitorum Clerk: sir. I just received a call from the security commander and he's raising all kinds of hell. Minitorum supervisor: why what's happened?. Minitorum clerk: well it appears somebody stole his safe. (Walks into supervisors office to see its been stripped of everything) Minitorum clerk: sir. What's happened?. Minitorum supervisor: Marcus. It appears we are victims of the chem dogs march to war.
Great video as always! Care to do a video about Enuncia?
Commissar: Whatcha got there? Chem Dog with a plasma pistol, power sword and jump pack: A smoothie.
Love the lore keep it up man
2:52 to miss the nord's shilling.
LMAO the background music to RAID Shaddow Legend is slowed down, remixed version of Two Steps From Hell's Mass Effect 2 trailer music!! xD The song title is "Heart of Courage". BTW that was some awesome trailer. The game was awesome as well!
Great video arch

@@Marinealver it was with them since first founding of the regiment see here *pointing at crudly painted on regimental number that are still wet* you just never noticed since it's a scout titan.
Strange, i thought you already did a video on this... Oh well. I bet other regiments, even other chemdogs serving alongside them, would have to keep a really close eye on their equipment. Even the ones nailed down. And especially the contents of the medicae tent. Incase you wind up having to go there after being shot in the ass only to find out all the pain killers and other useful drugs have mysteriously disappeared during the night. Aswell as half your other stuff. Including the stuff you spent all day nailing. Like the blood ravens, they sound like they would prove the term 'steal everything not nailed down' to be wishful thinking as everything, including the nails would be gone if you looked away for a second.

Who's to say he doesn't already have a regiment or two?
Will we ever have a video about the deathguards or Mortarion ? Not Nathaniel Garro
It would be cool if there was any lore on PMCs. There is no shortage of work in the 41st millennium.
Do Mordant Acid-Dogs next, to keep it positive.
Savlar Chemdogs are basically Death Korp of Krieg on a massive amount of space meth.
Wonder if Arch is ever gonna finish his Armageddon series with the Third War for Armageddon. /think That aside, great video! Keep it up!
Criminals can improvise and adapt
Keep that good Lord coming Arch. A comment for the algorithm gods¡
OH YEAH!! Now the weekend is saved!
I actually have a question, arch, if you see this. Do you receive sponsorship money biased upon activity inside the little ad segment or is it just a flat pay out and we can skip without thinking?

I don't actually know, but I suspect they just check how many referrals they get via his code over time. But they also seem to just shotgun sponsorships, so maybe they don't actually care.
You live in a winter hellscape. Which sleeping bag is the best to survive the winter?
Random thought that came to me for an ork starship. Red ones go faster that is a fact. When you approach the speed of light you encounter blueshift. So an ork ship traveling at relativistic speeds will turn blue slow down become red then speed back up.
I bet these guys get along famously with the Blood Ravens

Painted Blue and you would think they pass as Death Skullz.
You know that can be like a one-shot campaign for 40K
savlar chem-dogs so basically they are to standard penal legions what the death korps is to standard imperial guard regiments best deployed alone or with others of the same and you put them where the others fail also i wonder if a death korps guardsman and a savlar chem-dog would be able to share the importance of their respective facial fashion?
I love this lore video on Raid
Ah yes, 40k’s own Dirlewanger Brigade!

These guys are much worse :D for example one of em hunted young children and their families for sport like they were foxes after fighting off the orks. It really is a situation of “yay it’s the guard” turning into “oh no it’s the guard”

For a few brief moments of horror I thought you were going to say the penal Legion looted ork weaponry that somehow remained functional
I love kit bashing armies… that’s why I play Orks and Chaos Marines… but I have always dreamed of making a Penal Legion (like the Chem Dogs) … where I guess using Genestealer cultists + Imperial Guard + nercromunda gangs would create the best results… Hell… maybe using Genestealer Cults would represent the Chem Dogs better then the Astra militarm???

The Cawdor, Ash Waste Nomads and the old monopose Dark Vengeance Chaos Cultists are a good start for bodies as are Kreig and Stealer cult minis. There are also some good bits from the Orlock and Delaque kits. And some Cadian and Catachan bits mixed in are handy. Any Space Marine helmetless head with a rebreather is good and the new ash wastes upgrades kits for Necromunda are full of heads with goggles and gas masks and backpacks. Don't forget the backpacks. The loot needs to go somewhere...
I know in normal penal units, they have the opportunity to be transferred to the regular army where they can recieve the regular army pay, benefits, and even the eventual retirement. I wonder if there are any recorded cases of chem dogs being transfered from penal legions to non penal units or being given the right to settle on conquered worlds?

They probably offered it, if the Chem Dog gave up their loot.......got turned down.
Love the work as allways, but can you pls switch the background music to anything else… Bit more gloomy preferred but anything will do 😆. Thx bud ❤
Erm, is this reupload of older video, or you did them for a second time? Cuz I am sure I have watched your video about them years ago...
Deeper dive video on the underhive conflict plz
