    Ironically, this video is a really cool concept and seems like a great reason to buy an airbrush, but at the same time I don't have the money so I'm resolutely drawing my diamonds the double-spiral way as I watch this video

    This is a great way to do the diamonds. I had looked at the stencils before and knew using the full stencil wouldn't work, but I wasn't sure if using the individual diamonds would. I'm glad I came across this to show that it can work. Now to paint around 70 Harlies...

  • @theminiaturemen40k

    You could use a brush, you would just want to be very precise on your paint placement. If you just painted over all the stencil it would most likely seep under.

  • @theminiaturemen40k

    @theminiaturemen40k

    We always reply, the harlequin in the video is just a normal troupe player. The stencil itself is almost impossible to use on the models hence me using the individual diamonds. So if you’re just painting normal harlequin troupes this method will work great for you

  • @theminiaturemen40k

    @theminiaturemen40k

    3 жыл бұрын

    It might be at high psi, but for airbrushing our minis it should be fine to backflow. I usually go about 18psi on the stencil. 20-25ish for regular work

  • @marcellogenovese199

    @marcellogenovese199

    3 жыл бұрын

    It's bad because it forces pigment back into the needle housing and can get down to the air piston on the trigger. You can clean this of course, but it's a pain. If your like me and you don't clean it very often (hardly ever) it can start to cause issues with the performance since your basically making the tolerances tighter and causing more wear. It's really not that big of a deal though, airbrushes are a tool to be used and worst case scenario you buy a new one. I have my Patriot 105 still and it was my very first air brush purchased in 2009, the thing is patina'd for Christ sake that's how badly I have maintained it, yet it is still in use today (just not for tight details). So yea, basically like anything in life you have to way the pros and cons. I backflow a lot because it's the fastest way to clear my pot for color changes or to mix into the pot on the brush. It's definitely not good for the brush, but the expense of dumping paint and using shit loads of cleaner coupled with the increased time could probably mean you could just buy a new brush with that same investment anyway lol.
