We used to pull a 7 bottom 16 inch moldboard plow behind our Farmall 1206. Exact same tractor in the beginning of this video. We farmed around 1,500 acres. I used to love going out to plow a big field. Believe it or not but I was only 10 years old. Parents now a days have no idea what a young person is capable of doing if you teach them well. I would plow from daylight to dark and the older boys would only check on me a few times a day and bring me food and drink. On the farm, I never got bored. There was always something to do. I sure miss those days. Memories that I wouldn't change for nothing in this world. :)

Brings back memories of Grampa driving a John Deere 4010 and a 4 bottom plow and dad driving the Minneapolis-Moline Vista G 1000 pulling a 6 bottom plow. We changed while I was in school to disking with an Oliver 1900 with MFW and a Oliver 2155. I am surprised I can hear after driving that screaming Jimmy in the 1900. The only large tractor we still have since dad died is the Vista G 1000. I think all the implements were sold.

Really cool seeing that CAT D4 plowing. A few years back when I went through California I saw them using D6's working ground. No blades or even front hydraulic cylinders. Just bare tracked crawlers.

That Oliver 990 is a joke, that was Oliver's biggest mistake by using a 2-cycle Detroit in it.Unless you run them wide open, you can't get any power out of a Detroit.

It’s true that duel rear wheels give better floatation and traction in the fields but the real reason one tire&wheel is removed from the right side of the tractor is because of the plow they’re using tracks directly behind the tractor, so when plowing they have to remove the outside duel so’s the tractor can put that right tire down in the furrow and the plow will be over far enough to not leave a ridge of unplowed ground.

I really hope there will still be a half century of progress show by the time I’m 16. I’m 12 years old and I have 4 tractors of my own I have a, case 990, ford 8n, international 806 (wheat land) international 1466 standard front axle (none row crop axle). So I hope there is a plowing demonstration so I can go to one in a few years.

60 years ago, my uncles farmed in Nebraska. When visiting them, I remember sitting on/sometimes driving the tractors of the day. I loved plowing , on everything from a AC. WD 45 , JD 70 , all the way up to a JD 8430 with MFWD . Night time was the best harvest corn until dark , then jump on a JD 4620 or 6030 , and take off plowing until 2:00 am. The tractor pulling across the field , the longer you ran the more glow as heat built up in the muffler. Soon. It would would be glowing red , and flames , and sparks spit out the top . The tractor was pulling a little hard , but that is when it sounded it's best.

So cool to see all that old iron working, I think the 4000 and 5000 Deere series tractors ran the smoothest and quietest of them all. My dad had a 4020 and 5020 back in the day. The 4020 was a dam good tractor, it would always start, the 5020 not such a good starter. You have the best videos...///

Ug, listen to the difference between the 1030 with the muffler and the one with the "fancy" straight pipe. Why do people subject themselves to that? I know the factory mufflers aren't the most inexpensive things in the world, but my oh my that deafening drone! To each their own but that drives me nuts. Also, some of these plows are set up just terrible! Different depths front to back, gauge wheels not set properly, etc. That first 1650, the poor guy has to bounce his tractor through the furrow behind that JD, the 1950 shown later the furrow actually disappears! Still though, it's always a treat to see older stuff working hard yet. Takes me back, and I appreciate the videos.

I know in Europe they have those plows that flip over or whatever so the driver just does a U turn at the end of the field and continues on. These plows only plow to the right, so the procedure to cover the field is a little different. Suffice to say, the right wheel of the tractor is always the one in the furrow, and the plow always plows the soil to the same side, so the dual wheel is always the one on the high side.

Jim Shoemaker Why would you even make a comment that every one might be a little over weight. They’re doing what they love, driving a tractor. Fat, skinny, old, young , tall, short. All these guys and some gals all have one thing in common, they love tractors.

@@tylercorbin8073 he's talking about the fatasses in the side by sides and Gators. Too scared to get out and walk a little bit.

That was a nice plowing team. I will say for power and plowing that 190XT has every tractor out there beat.
