Here is how to mount the aftermarket 40 series torque converter
Sorry this took me so long to install. This was my first time and I did not practice first!🤪

    This kit is perfect. The steel plate alone weights over 9 lbs. Very heavy duty. The bearing sticks out like that to put it closer to the sprocket. The RED spring on the Driven pulley is already the correct reverse spring and works very well. Comet just paints there spring yellow. Good job Eric.

    Question maybe you can answer. Yerf dog go kart worked before breaking swing arm. Replaced it with identical swing arm and also identical sprockets and chain. Put it back together and belt slips...won't propel the cart. Driver and driven unit are used but were working before.

    Hello, I have a question. I've read that the 30 series tq is good up to 8hp or there about and a 40 series tq is good for up to 16hp or so. My question is would there be any performance gains by using a 40 series tq on a built 212cc predator engine putting out 15hp? I realize you would need to put a sleeve on the 3/4" shaft to bring it up to 1" for the larger front pulley to be used.

    The 40 series units are very heavy and the snowmobile guys have been known to break cranks. There is a 40 series driver available for 3/4" cranks www.ombwarehouse.com/comet-44c-magnum-drive-clutch-3-4-.html but I do not recommend using it unless you add an outboard bearing and support for the weight. I have seen 30 series converters used on 16 HP engines. There are some modifications that must be done, but they will support the power. The 1" drivers use a 1/4" wide key and the 3/4" cranks and drivers use a 3/16" key. That makes it very hard to adapt!

I want to install a 30 series on my go-kart, but the problem is that the sprocket needs to be on the outside instead of the inside. On the driver/driven alignment the driven moving sheeve should be matching the drivers fixed sheeve at full engagement. This will cause a bit of misalignment when not active. Does that seem right or am I losing my sh!t?

  • @TheGrayGoatGarage

    @TheGrayGoatGarage

    2 жыл бұрын

    I don't know if you are losing your stuff, but I can tell you that does not matter with these units. The symmetric belt is forgiving. Also consider that the original Comet units used the driver mounted conventionally and the driven had the hub inboard...same thing as what you see here, just in reverse! Trust in the Goat...you will be fine!
