40" RC Flying Wing - Dollar Tree Foam Board
40" Dollar Tree foam board
Based on FPV40 from rcgroups - mods: all foam board, Kfm3 airfoil, 1/4" wooden dowel under 50% step, nose cover to acheive balance, & central vertical stabs
www.rcgroups.com/forums/showth...
CoG is about 8-1/4" from tip (w/o cover) normally
Less (~8") when it's windy
Turns out the nose cover was not needed for balance, but it helped protect the nose/tip in a few crashes.
I doubt it adds any lift, since it is only held down with a rubber band at the back.

Whoa, this is high praise for my humble little Dollar Tree wing. Thank you Dick for your contributions to the hobby and beyond. It met its demise (a tree trunk) a few months back due to pilot error, but was a beautiful flier. My little girl - almost completely disinterested in Dad's planes - upon hearing of the crash, told me it was the best plane I had. Equally high praise I would say...
Nice build. I'm a huge fan of the KFm's.
Very nice, I have building wings for a while and you sir have it dialed in. Congrats. I enjoyed the vid.
Thanks schraut5 for the videos and a design just simple enough for me to give a try. I think my next one will be larger and I'll stick to the pink foam for KFm. My 50% KFm $Tree foam piece rests on the dowel and leaves a void underneath - weak design.
Nice! Good work.
Excellent build. Looks like a winner to me. ~ Dick. The K In KF
