I cannot believe the day is here. I’ve thought about this day since his 20 week ultrasound when I found out he had a “deformity.” I’ll never forget the tech saying “of all the deformities, this is the one you want.” I thought it was an odd thing to say. But just look at him run. Dr. Marcela Woiczik at @shrinersslc has changed his whole life. The bummer is that his journey isn’t over. Instead of yearly checkups, we have to go in 3 months to see if the supinating has worsened. If so, little man has to be casted again. But at least he will be able to run around in it and still be a kid. And if he supinates after casting, he will need a tendon transfer 😞 She said 20% of clubfoot cuties have this and sometimes it’s just the way their feet end up. We were diligent with the BNB every night but had some setbacks with blisters, pressure sores and bike accidents😓 But we made it. We prevailed! Last night was the first night he didn’t wake up in the middle of the night asking me to take off his boots. A miracle! This kid is gonna be a killer athlete someday. Even with his lucky fin. Yay, Niko!!! I got all teary from watching this, just remembering the videos when he had the casts put on and taken off and seeing how far he's come. It's amazing what they do at Shriner's to help kids. It's sure been a long journey for Niko and really all of you. I'm so happy for Niko. And "no pajamas" was adorable!

My daughters bends in like that and she had surgery March 1st to fix it but she still is recovering. We found the probably at age 5 but it was inoperable until age 14

OMG I think it's so many of us in the comments section that's emotional about this as I'm making this comment I'm starting to cry because I remember the tough road that you had you know you all had with the boots and it's such an amazing thing is such a blessing that he was able to come to the end of his chapter with this so many children so many families they can't close a chapter of their book with various things that have to do with the Shriner hospital excetera you are so blessed and fortunate that you're able to I'm so glad to see this day come everyone stay safe stay blessed and be careful out here

I am going through same process ..my son born with club foot now he is wearing braces ..
I have club foot as well and I had to get surgerys at ages newborn,3,5,and13
My 30 year old son had club feet plus hip Displaysia. They left is feet with a slight turn in.

Mother , you know better niko is big boy 4 years old not need crib anymore!!!!! He is happy give new own bed !! Time move on !!!! You have plenty time something to do change room niko not need crib and last sister need crib not in the closet !!! Of course mother is good take care ..

Julie has been working on room reassignments, it's on her to do list of millions of other things! She was thinking Nayoma in Nico's room, and Nico in with India and Kenia. Not sure how many bedrooms she has, but it will get sorted in time👍
