For nearly 25 years of going to Thailand, I have never been in a taxi with a 'broken' meter. Before getting in the taxi, I make sure that he knows where I am going AND that he will use the meter. Then I get in. Never had a problem with these guys. And at the end of the ride, I always tip them generously. Because I know how it is, being a cabbie in Copenhagen myself. Over 30 years visiting thailand, twice i have encountered fast metres. They wait outside tourist attractions in the "no standing" areas, the police let them wait there because they get a cut. The driver can vary the speed of the metre so you may not see the fast periods. 😀 I got out of one (8 years ago) and told a nearby traffic cop who went up to the taxi and nabbed him in traffic.

The complaints are now becoming funny banter to start off the shows. Top man Pete. Keep it up

A great range of stories. I went to a show in pat pong that my friend had to drag me to. As we went up the stairs I said "This is where they take our kidneys". But all was fine. No overcharging. Very friendly staff. Very enjoyable. No matter where in the world I've been approached by touts, I never use them. I did get burned by a clip joint once in Europe. It was a good lesson.

The comments on your videos never cease to amaze me. From your glasses to your clothes to being accused of faking the stories. You'd swear you had a gun to their head to make them watch your videos. I never actually watch your story videos but rather listen to them in the background while I am working or cooking, like right now at the office. I suggest they do the same if the videos aren't visually appealing to them.

Pretty good as usual! I share your vids to my friends who are planning to visit and with friends who are regular Thailand visitors.

Ugh my god, Peter. Could these people whine about anything else?? At this rate, they'll be sending comments saying: "Hi, Pete. Could you possibly Not talk during your videos because your voice is overly loud and similar to a fast spin washing machine. Just enjoy the stories and the effort Peter puts in to have them for us Every Saturday. Jeezus.

Hey Peter, you should have started this video wearing your glasses upside down and a fluorescent pink shirt, that would have been a better response to your critics 😄

Pingpong is crazy, I was walking on Walkingstreet Pattaya with a female friend. And still men come and asked -PingPong Show? Even pointed out that I had lady company. We just laugh at the whole situation. It was a crazy experience.

I think the reason why the touts ask is because many couples do go and watch those shows, not for any kind of gratification but just because they’re so different which would explain why he didn’t care that you had female company with you.

I'm sure I'll get some pushback from this comment, but I feel compelled to say it. All of you Thailand lovers are SO sure that the Thai people are great and the place is so great, but you aren't seeing the forest through the trees. Scammers, rip-offs, dishonest bar girls, and everyone, even though you say that it isn't so are trying to steal every cent you possess. I'm thinking that YOU are the worst scammers of all. Thailand can scam all they want, I will never see any worth to going there. I would have loved to be there in the early 2000's, but I hate the place now.

In defence of Thai people, I think these scams go on in tourist locations in every city around the world! You cannot judge the entire population of Thailand on the people who carry out these scams. I have met some wonderful honest Thai people over the years who have wanted nothing from me. If you’re hanging out in mainly tourist locations then you will attract these kind of scammers. Let’s face it, they’re not going to hang out in Thai only areas and try and scam are they?

You can't paint all Thais with the same brush mate. As Peter said there are scammers everywhere. Neighbouring countries like Philippines and Vietnam are rife with corruption and scammers but the vast majority of people are okay. Istanbul has to be the worst city for scams. I've heard of guys going into a "normal bar/club", order of few drinks and then get a bill for 10 or 20,000 euros at the end of the night. Then they bring in the heavies if you refuse to pay.

I love these stories, I'm trying so hard to go there I'm just afraid of flying, well I should say I do fly to South America but it's only 7 hours not 30 😲😳 but eventually I have to grow a pair and get there lol. If you can avoid it, fly business or first class, it really makes a big difference on the long haul flights.

From suvarnsbhumi airport to silom road it's 390 baat plus toll bridges. There is also a 50 baat charge from the airport. All taxis from the airport must use the meter now.

I understand it's amusing, however I just think they have nothing better to do than give you a hard time. I also believe that they get a sense of accomplishment when you talk about them.

I always carry my wallet in my front pocket. And when I'm interesti zones as soon as I get to somewhere where I can buy a very cheap wallet I buy that wallet and leave my real wallet back at the hotel. And that wallet. I only carry the local currency and not very much of it and that also stays in my front pocket.

I like to listen to the stories when I am doing deliveries it makes time go by fast so I do not mind the shirt, glasses or scene. I wish the stories were longer a lot of times

story 3 = i wanted to see this my first time too - i got lucky and went to soi cowboy my first night and in suzy wongs ( very popular / famous bar on this soi ) and they had this show for free every hour or so ... and they had us put balloons over our heads and she popped them by shooting " pea " s at them = all i can think is = where are the safety glasses ???? what if she misses ????? its all fun and games until someone looses an eye ... 555555 = some guys were sitting up to 30 feet away

Some people have more money than sense

Watch out for the additional/excessive drinks, then the late cover charge. Once time I was there with my girlfriend & they pulled the drinks scam saying that the 2 free drinks were not in dact free. 2 guys tried to demand 5000 baht from me, but the girlfriend got in their faces & they backed down. My GF is only 5 ft 4 tall & 45 kilo. A tiny girl with a huge temper when scammers are on. Just do not go itno these bars.

Have no problems with Bkk taxi to use meters. Take a photo with your mobile, of the Taxi ID card...and you will se the meter get new life!

Story 1 happened in Shanghai, not Thailand.

The guy from the 1st story, is he talking about British pounds or Thai baht? It makes no sense he had $250 pounds for dinner and then he was asked $2250 at the massage parlor ($102,000 baht)....like Peter said, he could have said no to the girl from the getgo....lol
