As a young adult, I had three knee surgeries in five years. Since I wasn't as active during that time as I normally was, I gained weight. A family friend told my SIL that I'd be pretty if I lost weight. She and my mother couldn't understand why I didn't think that was a compliment. I said, "And, he'd be handsome if he had plastic surgery."

I was skinny shamed too and body shaming is mean as hell but when you think about it only people not doing well internally or externally hurt other people. Hurt people hurt people. I dont agree with ignoring it though because staying silent and ignoring how someone hurt you is not helping you at all...all that's doing is bottling that pain inside. Let that shit. Let that pain out. Go tell their asses off, then report that shit to your school so you have a paper trail. So if they continue to do this then you can take legal action. Remove them from your life and get them as far away from you as possible. People who shame you in person are shaming themselves in some way behind closed doors. You must be shining too bright and making them realize how dim their life is :)

I am going through pre menopause. I also had a huge fibroid in my uterus that caused big issues. I am 50. It hurt my feelings so much I reduced my caloric intake and I am working out bigtime. However, I will not be talking or associating myself with him ever again because he made me feel suicidal. I was very kind to him. I just do not understand. I'm skinny, white and tall. And all my life I'm getting negative comments, that I'm too tall, too skinny, and all kinds of insults that I would rather not mention here. It's not about you, it's about people who are commenting. They are ones who have a problem. I never comment anybody's look. It's sometimes little bothering when you're getting those comments, but always remember that negative people are going to comment anybody's look. It's not the problem in being skinny, fat, or average, it's problem in being negative. Those people will find anything on you to comment, even if you look perfect.

I've always been petite my whole life, my family, teachers, classmates always shamed me, my parents always stood up for me. I recently went from 105 to 120, due to birth control & a back injury right before the pandemic hit. The other day, before my birthday my mom for the very first time called me chubby, said she never thought she'd live to see her daughter get "this big". I felt like crying, wondering why she'd do this to me right before my birthday. I told her she sounded just like my grandma, she took it as an insult & wouldn't apologize or admit to fault even though I plainly said to please stop & that she was very hurtful. I'm usually good with brushing things like this but this hit me hard😔

In these times it's really the skinny people who are targeted and tbh it really shouldn't matter what size or shape you are but I don't think people will just accept people for how they were made.

Thanks for the common but essential lessons. I want to ask a question not related to the topic. In your lesson on 'household chores' During the explanation of the expressions 'dust the furniture, sweep the floor and set the table ' you have used the word' would ' .I don't understand the meaning of would at that place though I understand the expression 'would like to '.Could you please clarify the use of 'would ' in those places.

Omgosh! this is so helpful! I've been upsetting for two days and the rational side of me keep telling me this is not something I should be upset about and move on but the emotional side of me keep replaying the scene where my brother fat-shamed me. This is bothering me cuz it affects my emotion since I just got out from mild depression recently and being genuinely happy. All of a sudden, a petty comment from a petty person is making me not feeling good again. Hmph! Thanks for the message about the negative people! I will try my best to be a positive person! :)
