4 Tips on Countering an ARMBAR - Juji Gatame

Спорт

Juji gatame or as it is more commonly known, the armbar is one of the most recognisable and iconic finishing positions within the grappling arts. It is a devastating example of the power of a lever and fulcrum in action. But, can we prevent the inevitable when we are caught by this bone-crunching technique? This video sets out to share just 4 of the most simple strategies you can employ to bring you back from the clutches of defeat but act quickly as your opponent certainly won't hang around or want to pass up the opportunity to break your arm or submit you, whichever happens, to come first!

Very interesting. I did karate for several years, wado ryu style. Nonetheless, though some space was given to kobudo and very little to self defence (99% of which by means of striking sensible points, not grappling or joint locking), 90% of the lessons consisted of various combinations of mawashi Geri+ uraken+ giaku tsuki. Thats why I quit and tried yoseikan buco, that looked a lot like tue combination of karate+aikido+judo I think you do. Were all karate dojos like yours, they’d be all full. Once again congrats on your bu jutsu videos 👍👍

Thank you sincerely and kindly for your words. I begin in Wado with a similar experience. As a child it was perfect but as an adult I needed more and began to research far more extensively. I just hope this helps others on their journey.

Multiple sources. It has always been a part of our Aikijujutsu syllabus. Shihan Billy Doak was a major influence on me and our dojo and many of his teachings form the heart of our early curriculum. I have also studied BJJ and continue to do so. Beyond that my independent study and research is extensive.
