I’ve actually seen that gameboy in person. It’s in a museum section in the NYC Nintendo store
My favorite example is the soldiers' original Game Boy, which survived a bomb blast. Look it up. It's crazy.

I think people just generally underestimate how durable these products can be. Most people are so focused on gadgets and gimmicks that durability has become less and less important of a factor when buying a product…

Another amazing story would be the Nintendo Gameboy that survived an enemy napalm bomb blast in the pocket of a US troop during the wars in the middle east in the early 1990s! It still works today and is on display in the Nintendo store in New York where it’s still running Tetris! :)
Many the companies of these products must praise these stories. This is advertising for reliability at it's peak!

Minor detail, that's a door plug, it wasn't supposed to be able to open at all without tools, the reason it pop out is because 4 bolts that's supposed to secured the plug to the hinge was not put in

Yea, many don't get this. 16,000 ft or 100,000 ft doesn't matter if both reaches terminal velocity. Both will hit the ground at the same speed.

Yep. It was a Boeing 737. It was the latest model too so they had to ground all of the planes and they found that they all had this defect as well as several other errors

But the actual answer is things falling from great heights reach constant terminal velocity so the impact is less further terminal velocity directly depends upon mass so the chances of most phone surviving the fall is high

Another example for people who wanted to know more: In the gulf war, a bomb blew up a tent owned by the us military. In the tent was a Nintendo gameboy belonging to a medic. When the gameboy was found it was taken to a repair shop, but it didnt need to as not only did the gameboy still work, but the copy of tetris that was in it. Its in a museum now (not sure which)

With the phone one, it is pretty obvious as to why it survived. As phones are decently light their terminal velocity is low, meaning they can't fall fast. But the major factor is that it landed on grass, unlike a road which would have caused it to explode!
There was a GameBoy that a soldier had on tour which ended up getting bombed. Afterwards he jokingly sent it to Nintendo to ask them if they could repair it and they found that it still worked
