Its an experiment theyre doing to implement it into every game and possibly the MLB. Kind of weird timing because this is right before the cws but they chose this as a good test to see how it would do in game. Its for player safety as the runner can step on any side of the bag on a hit or dropped third strike but the fielder has to use the white side of the bag. If a runner is on base they have to use only the white side if the bag, and if a ball gets hit and it bounces over the white bag its fair, but if it bounces over the green bag its foul

Here we go again. Another bandwagon fan that has only watched Tennessee since the end of the season and knows Jack about college baseball. Question. Is Tennessee in the ncaa tournament and clinched home field through supers? If you the answer is yes then that should explain all you need to know about them "playing terrible". I love our fans but some of yall need to stop following our teams only when they are winning and #1 in the country. Watch them even when it's bad. Actually learn the sport and how things are done. This isn't football where you must win the sec tournament before you can win a natty. Spread the word to all your buddies that three days ago texted you "Hey man Tennessee is number 1 in baseball. Let's watch them play tomorrow and act like we've been watching all season." This goes for the softball team too. Just go play call of duty. The adults will handle this.

"The SEC baseball tournament will feature larger, rectangular bases that are known as a "double first base," the conference announced. The bases, deployed on "an experimental basis," are designed to promote player safety by providing a second side for which baserunners can run and a side for which first basemen can place their back foot. The base is not just a large, white rectangle, however. The reason it is called a double base is because there are two bases, one white and another either orange or green. The middle of the base will be placed exactly on the first-base line, meaning anything over the white base will be fair territory and anything over the colored base is foul. A double base will help avoid injuries with one side being reserved for the first basemen and the other for baserunners. Runners will have to cross the colored base during most at-bats - with the exception of a dropped third strike or extra-base hit - while fielders must have their feet on the white part of the base. Per the rules, players who get an extra-base hit or a hit into the outfield where there is no play at first can touch either side of the base. However, when returning to first, they can only touch the white portion of the base. On dropped third strikes, the fielder and batter can go for either side of the base. If a batter touches only the white part of the base and the defense appeals before the runner returns to the base after running through it, it will be treated the same as missing the base entirely and the batter will be ruled out. There have been a number of notable injuries that have taken place at first base when a fielder and a baserunner collide or step on one another's foot as both vie for the base. Among the most notable came in 2013, when Braves pitcher Tim Hudson stepped on the front side of first base and had his right leg stepped on by Mets baserunner Eric Young Jr. The result was a season-ending ankle fracture that ended his season in April. As of now, the NCAA baseball tournament plans to keep first base as normal. Though the SEC tournament is allowed to experiment with the double base, there has been no indication the NCAA will do that when all the teams come together on the road to the College World Series."

A&M was a top 4 seed. Tennessee and Kentucky are the only one left out of the top 4. A&M ain’t sweating the tourney loss. They’ll get extra rest for the regionals now.

@@toppedoff I think A&M has a good team. SEC is a funny league. A lot of good teams. No one is safe. Some of them like Fla and LSU are fighting for their lives. Vandy and Ms St. are on fire.

There are teams that belong in the tournament and those that don't. 'Bye, gaggies!

Obviously A&M does not have crunch time players. All A&M does is either they hit homeruns to score or they they dont win. Pitching has been improving but their hitting went south. Maybe A&M hitters are not what they think they are. Because when they face good pitching they can not hit. So i believe that possibly A&M will get eliminated in regional. Another thing Slossangale wins games but can not win the big ones. A&M is one of those teams would of,could of,should of

A&M are not that good. The whole idea at this time of the season should be at top of your game. So everyone else has improved but A&M has not. Pitching has but A&M soley realizes on home runs.

Hope everyone realizes that these top teams that are already locked into the Tourney are on cruise control. If they win great, if not no biggie. Vandy will probably win the sec because it needs to impress some people or they might be on early vacay.

There is a reason all the best teams from the SEC are out or on the edge, they are locked in the big tourney. These games mean zip. A&M is a top 5 team- Out Arkansas - out LSU - edge Kentucky - edge Tennessee edge You think all those teams that have been top 5 or so just all stopped being good? At least get some kind of knowledge before posting a uneducated comment.
