Great report. Has convinced me to get some 6mm Swedes. Fan from NZ

my only complaint with this battle report is that the cows are still in the fields eating. They did not startle and run as soon as tanks drove by shooting guns? Immersion destroyed. ;) but cool battle. First i've seen of the Swedes actually in action.

Thanks. Was just a test game, so I still need to see the Swedish army played competitively. Anyway, I was positively surprised by the 'survivability' of the S-Tank. But... when the S-Tanks move... oh dear. Moreover, against a T-72B force (what I expect to meet around - possibly Czech) the Swedes might lack the necessary punch. AT=21 is kind of light. Thus the need for the Mavericks.

It was a good battle with the Swedes fighting a great defence battle. The Poles had the right idea but made a few tactical mistakes that cost them the game. The BTRs really needed smoke to cover them once they came into the open. The Polish tanks spent too much time exchanging shots when they really needed to close range to get rid of some of the negatives. Allowing the S tank reserves to come on and take side shots on the Poles was another mistake. The T-55s could have swamped them, taking their own side shots. For close in action assault guns like the S tank and STuGs are not as versatile as a tank with a turret. So, speed and short-range attacks were required by the Poles. It can be very daunting to attack showing this much aggression, especially when receiving shots on the way in. On the plus side, the Soviet block armies are built to do just that. Strangely Soviet doctrine states you must take casualties before you can deliver them. All up, it was a good game but very challenging for the Poles.

Really good! Re the "puppies"...the poles must have been phenomenally unlucky not to get them. You are aware that once they fire those 90RCL's they are neither concealed or gone to ground aren't you?

I'd say at 85 points you're better served by T-72FM2s, though you'd need to find 3 points more than Viggens.

Yeah... just I like to be more 'thematic'. Taking the T-72s from Finland means Norrbotten to me. Thus arctic environment. And if I have to use allies, then I'd rather take full formations. Somehow, I feel that BF has taken some shortcuts in this book (e.g. German units as support to Danes - I still prefer allied formations than allied units). Maybe I'm just a purist. ;-)

the soviets seem so underpowered in team yankee, its an insult to reality really and it is unfortunate, because there is no way at all if you like soviets and want to play soviets to play them like nato, because your tanks will always have super low shots per turn if you go for the expensive ones and all your support assets will still suck absolute ass. Watching many battle reports it seems like if you play soviets you are bashing at a knight in armor with a baseball bat or a blunt sword, the way that your shots never ever connect and it seems incredibly frustrating. Self harm seems more healthy than playing soviets

I would say that many players take hordes of cheap czech tanks and motor rifles. Or good stats East Germans/Poles. My experience is that NATO has the quality, WPAC the quantity. A little bit like Soviets in FOW.

@@My-little-wars_Alessandro yes definitely but i just wish there was a way to play soviets with nato skill and numbers instead of always having to horde everything :( i get that its a game its just... disappointing how stereotypically skilled, trained and equipped they are to be the "bad guys"
