I am, FOREVER, falling into a lore rabbit hole of my own design instead of prepping the next session

I feel you... As I was working on the factions video... I kept diving too deep. The faction video would be 90 minutes long if I didn't stop to make this.

I did find each of your D&D Campaign Prep videos very useful. Your introduction was very relatable and the vin diagram reinforced your priorities to avoid losing focus to what was urgent. I am watching each video in the series as well as your other series; "How to Build a D&D Sandbox with Shattered Obelisk". I think a great follow up would be where you take your favorite parts from those DM's rule book II or gamemaster rulebooks, and include your own input into the topic of campaign design. 😎 🤜🤛

Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback. Which rule books? Do you mean the adventure books? Or other books I've mentioned, like Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master?

I would be interested in your opinion of the GM/DM rule books which provided you with the most for campaign design and game mechanics. Some of the game mechanics I would like to include are mana points (instead of spell slots), spell lines with spell ranks (instead of levels and heightened spells), the use of an Avoidance Class*, which involves size and agility (instead of armor), the changing armor to contribute to Damage Resistance* DR (instead of AC). * Note: Avoidance Class and Damage Resistance was inspired by Armor Redesigned by Mr. Rhex. My homebrew modification is to adjust it for a piece mail approach were each individual piece of armor contributes to the first DR number which is the hit roll above the Avoidance Class that is a hit but the second number of the DR mitigates the damage. So AC 11, DR 4/-3 is a warrior with an Avoidance Class of 11, where

Thanks! I specifically avoid clickbait titles... unless it actually describes the content accurately. Like my WTF WtoC video... the first quarter of this year literally contained multiple WTF is WotC thinking moments 😅 The faction video should be public at 4pm est today. It builds directly on the concepts in this and ones in the previous Campaign Prep Videos.

ah yes all those pesky sub mechanics that only we managers care about, but the main categories are: Locations, NPCs, Items, and Movements. This NPC knows the party is coming after him he has an escape route, supplies, and an Ally in town. If the party didin't solve that 1 mystery 2 sessions ago the NPC bad guy gets away, If the party did not take that kill quest last session, the Ally helps the NPC with revenge later down the line! so with 4 quests options it generates many roads not taken and causes the party FUN later on. I'm sure not taking that baby sitting mission will pose no problems 10 sessions later!

It probably doesn’t help me personally that I am building the world as the players are playing in it so I too lore rabbit hole and try to connect as many things as possible so the world feels real and alive
