    Hollywood seems to think that everyone who isnt from America or >insert current date Bad guys? Either British or Russian The only time they care about accents is if it's a ww2 epic and we need to be reminded Germans are bad so they do those accents.

  • @AVerySillySausage

    I looked this up. The real reason for the British accent villains isn't as direct as it seems. In Hollywood movies the protagonist is usually going to be American and speak with an American accent. In order to create a contrast between the hero and the villian they like to often make them speak with a different accent. The reason it usually turns out to be English is because non-American but English speaking actors are most likely to be English, but really any foreign accent will do. There is probably also a bias towards English accents because Americans think they sound smart and sophisticated which tends to be an intimmidating trait that villains have. So it's not exactly that "British=bad".

  • @nonh1

    Also, according to Hollywood, Third World accents are interchangeable. Third World characters are usually sidekicks to the American-accent hero or henchmen to the British-accent villain (even if the whole story takes place in one of their countries), so they just have to talk funny. You can have a Mexican character with a Colombian accent, or an Arab character with a Sub-Saharan accent. It doesn't matter to Hollywood.

  • @MRuby-qb9bd

    @MRuby-qb9bd

    @@nonh1 Tbh most Americans can't tell the difference. Although Hollywood consistently muddling it up probably doesn't help, if that's they're only exposure to certain accents.

  • @trybunt

    There are also Germans! Don't forget the Germans! Interesting side note, old timey movies all use that weird old timey accent because some idiot got the bright idea that every respectable person speak exactly the same, in a transatlantic accent to prove how gosh darn better they were then the common folk, and that accent was taught to every film student as the proper way to speak.

    The drugs one definitely. I hate when movies make taking one hit from a joint the equivalent of eating a whole bag of shrooms while smoking peyote. Some of these guys start actually hallucinating and I sometimes barely get that high taking an entire bowl to the face and the worst that happens is I keep forgetting where I am for a second lol

    Crazelord91 My family is that messed up on drugs. Lol. At nearly every family reunion of the past twenty years, the cops have been called and people handcuffed. At my cousin's wedding...a brawl broke out at the reception which was held in the church reception hall (a church never stopped my family from partying. Lol). During the brawl I saw a table be thrown through a stained glass window and seconds later a person was thrown after it.

  • @redchic

    @redchic

    5 жыл бұрын

    ... Michael pate I hope you're not presuming/assuming to know my family better than I do. I didn't say that my family was typical. I only gave my family's scenario because we're proof that not all reactions to weed are stereotypical. Most are, but not all. And my family is part of the " not all" group. I will never understand why folks think they can possibly know more about all people, than people who actually know the subjects. And my family didn't take anything medically, they just don't react typically. As a good example, and it's me personally, so I know it's accurate... I've had many surgeries in life and been prescribed many different painkillers. The high that people get from oxy.... No matter how much I take... It doesn't have any effect on me like that. No buzz, no high, no energy. It just takes the edge off pain after surgery. That's it. However, if I take Vicodin.... It does very little to kill pain for me but I have the most horrific, wicked lucid dreams where people are trying to kill me. I won't take it because I it's not worth the terror. Soooo.. . Everybody is different.

  • @metalboy5150

    @metalboy5150

    5 жыл бұрын

    redchic You're right that everybody is different, and I said nothing about knowing anyone better than you. Don't look for reasons to be offended. What I said was that kind of aggressiveness is not an effect marijuana has on people generally. It sounds like your family has issues that may already be there and are using intoxication as an excuse for letting them run rampant. Your example of painkillers is completely unrelated, and has nothing to do with the issue at hand. I am a (somewhat) recovering addict, I have more experience with painkillers than I want. I understand the differences between them. But that's not what I'm talking about, and the chemical effects of opioids are vastly different from the chemical effects of THC and other active ingredients in pot.

    Walking around when you don't have your glasses on. Seriously, Hollywood treats removing glasses as if it made you completely blind, deaf and dumber than a sack of rocks. A character who can navigate their apartment to go pee in the dark at night without as much as a stubbed toe will remove their glasses and suddenly go Mister Magoo, hands outstretched and eyes squinting, being utterly unable to recognize anyone as their roommate asks them a question and they say "MOM?" in confusion. Not wearing your glasses is not THAT bad, it barely makes your vision blurry like watching a Monet painting from a few inches away. Even blind people aren't that lost and would make fun of you for having most of your eyesight left and being so utterly devastated that you can't recognize your loved ones by voice, height, silhouette and color. Even with my eyes closed at night, I can navigate the treacherous path to my toilet without outstretching my arms WITHOUT smashing my face on a wall like a moron.

    IRosencrantz But did that prevent her from knowing where all the walls were in her home? From recognizing people by VOICE? I'm saying that hollywood near-sighted means that removing your glasses means that you lose ALL SENSES, not just sight. Just look at any Big Bang Theory episode where Leonard loses his glasses and marvel at how a supposedly genius level IQ is unable to tell people apart by sound and bumps into every wall of his apartment where he's otherwise been seen navigating at night with no problem.

    Silver Dragon See, the biggest issue I have with this bit, is those occasions on which 'character with lost glasses' is stumbling around like a zombie, arms outstretched, for some god forsaken reason *not* looking on the FUCKING FLOOR WHERE THEIR GLASSES *OBVIOUSLY* ARE WHAT THE HELL, moaning and groaning like partial loss of sight renders you utterly incapable of functioning as a human being, and yet, despite having their arms *directly in front of them*, somehow *still* manage to crash into a wall, quite possibly breaking their nose and 99 times out of 100 falling to the floor straight on their back and knocking themselves out.

    Running on pure fear is harder than you think. The adrenaline makes your muscles very strong and your reflexes quicker. After the initial moment of freezing shock and you start to run, you are being flooded with speed and painkillers. Walking is a habit based on muscle memory. You already know how far your stride is and you balance accordingly with your arms and upper body. When you take off in complete T-Rex spawned terror, all that muscle memory is out the window. Watch soldiers running for their lives or charging a bunker. They are tripping all over themselves even though pretty much the entirety of their training is about operating under stress.

    How about the unbelievably insanely-difficult task of ... putting a key into a lock. Any lock. Car lock. House lock. Bike lock. In movies, any lock cannot have a key, which was specifically designed to do this, easily slip in, turn, and unlock the lock. Not only that but keys are apparently regularly sprayed with either Pam or WD-40 as they're insanely hard to hold onto. Oh, and even though the keys all look different on that key ring, apparently people in movies forget which key is which ... even though they've very very likely used them several times a day for probably years.

    This is related to the equally insanely difficult task of simply opening a door...especially in horrors and thrillers. Victim is running from the crazed maniac who has gotten into their house. All they have to do is run to a door and open it...and they can't. They spend 5 minutes tugging on the door knob, and for absolutely no reason that makes sense, the door just won't open. OR, after 5 minutes of futile tugging, they realize that the door is locked, and it takes them another dumbly, inept 5 minutes to just turn the damn deadbolt and unlock the door. Every time I see this scene in a movie, it makes me grind my teeth!!

Being against a movement or ideology does not mean you are against a whole group of people. Being Anti-BLM does not mean you hate black People. Being Anti-Fem does not mean you hate women. And Skallagrim is actually kinda cool and will end you rightly xD.

    Yuki Watching videos that pretty obviously are extremely biased just based off the title of them on a series of topics makes you an uneducated idiot, regardless of what side you're on. It's abundantly clear they have a narrow view based off of the kinds of videos they watch and I don't respect that at all. Also the idea that feminism and "men's rights" issues like men's mental health are separate ideas in opposition is laughable and if you have to use titles to validate human rights issues as more important than one another, then you have missed the point straight off the mark in achieving anything. They're the same thing, unless you're on either extreme. Where do they think the appreciation of men's mental health came from? Because it certainly wasn't from the 1950's when men were expected to be invulnerable, tough, bread-winners to save their hapless wives. And have they not realised that the same poisonous obsession with extreme masculinity is not only what causes so much domestic violence and rape for women, but also an obsession that attacks men for being vulnerable, and artistic, and caring- traits seen as traditionally feminine and weak- and why mental health in men is such a problem still? Feminism that is about trying to make women like men, and trying to take down men, is not feminism, and the extremism is clearly only a phase from the current generation. Similarly "Men's rights" activists are almost all men who are using it as an excuse to attack feminism, even though they are using issues intrinsically tied to that in feminism. And it really shows that they're only doing it for a childish, selfish reason because they are blatantly ignoring the many countries out there were the issues affecting women in particular are appallingly bad.

As to "carrying a sword properly" It's not that an average person "does it wrong," it's that they don't hold it as effectively as they could. Also, he's probably discussing different techniques, either historical or practical stances, or things like half-swording.

    Speaking as someone who raised 3 boys, I can assure you that the peeing in the face is a real struggle. The trick is to have a wipe handy to place over them when you pull off the old diaper and clean up. Then you put the new diaper on front first and pull the legs up, sweeping the back around the butt. It sounds hard, but you get the hang of it pretty quickly. Even my husband got good at it. Not too complex, but the struggle is real. I'm waiting for that one glorious movie to depict a baby shitting up their entire back to the hairline...... because, for real, babies do that too!

    The pissing on the diaper-changer is a thing, though. See, when the diaper comes off, the baby gets a rush of cool air to the previously-protected bladder area. Since those bald little proto-people haven't yet developed sphincter control, this usually results in urination.

    This is kind of true. It never happens while you're still in survival mode, though, but as you transition from it, back to rational mode. At least that's how it works with me. On survival mode, or auto-pilot, I run long and fast without even remembering the way I took, but when it's a false alarm, I sometimes fall, dazed by the weird feeling we get from realising we were not controlling our legs just a moment ago, while still running. We are back in control mid-run, completely unaware of how to go on from there.

    kathleen chambers actually basic human reflexes make you do one of two things: running away or hiding (except if you know you are stronger/got a better weapon than fighting would be possible too). Latter would mean, since most bedrooms with closets to hide in are upstairs you'd have to go their. But that would defeat the only real upside of hiding, that the guy doesn't know where you are. But still it's human nature and think about how most people act when speaking to someone they really like for the first time. Fear works in the same way, also some would probably just freeze and do nothing. Running away would also mean leaving everything behind(maybe even your phone) and if the other guy is faster than you, you're still screwed. Basically don't get into a situation where you live alone in a nowhere with no neighbors and no way to escape of necessary.

Considering the situation a better weapon would be grenades, dynamite or other explosives, that can easily be set up. Guns can work but you would need training, have one, have enough ammunition, take care of the weapon, hope it's not misfiring etc. Just use something like a slingshot(I mean we're talking range of 10 to 20 meter, slings and co are much more reliable than most guns at that distance)

    +espurious While sex might feel really good and is fun to do, it is overrated and over exaggerated by most people. While everyone is acting like sex is the only thing they live for, most research would indicate otherwise, but no one wants to admit it openly when there is such a stigma about not thinking sex is #1 in your book. The reason why most people want sex so badly is purely because of their hormones; so for an act that's supposedly the best thing ever, we do seem to lose interest in doing it quite quickly if our hormones don't tell us to. After you bust a nut, most of the interest seems to fade away for quite a while, kinda weird considering sex is supposed to be the most fun and exciting thing ever! A lot of women don't even seem to think sex is all that great and even the men that do think it's great often only have 1 charge and pretty much only last less then 7.2 mins average. You of course are the exception, the alpha male, the one that will satisfy girls like they have never been satisfied before! At least you think you do... let us know how that 53 hour sexathon went! I'll be enjoying sex among all the other great things in life that make it worth living.

    I would invite you to one of my family dinners, but I hate them all and go out of my way to never speak to those people under any circumstances. The last Christmas dinner I had with them, police were called and three people were arrested, four people ended up in A&E and the rest of us had to clean up all the food off the floor and walls. Missed chance to give a shout out to +cinemasins, though, as they are quite fond of pointing out 'learning from the Prometheus school of running away from things'.

    Simo That was 15 years ago, I haven't spoken to most of them since. Mostly I just shake my head and tell people I am an orphan and only have my dog as family. Those people are maniacal, racist, homophobic, sexist, Trump-loving asshats. So mostly I just shake my head and grimace. A hollow hopeless chuckle, perhaps.

    +sakecity7 "you don't share my opinion? RACIST! SEXIST! ISLAMAPHOBE!" If you actually watched any of the videos you'd know they were pretty political, but only offensive to idiots. The islam video is all about an atheist picking apart islamic comments, it has nothing to do with islamic people being bad people, only that (in the opinion of the maker of the video) they are wrong based on science The "racist" video *was made by a black person* basically saying "im for *all* lives matter, black lives matter has become toxic in saying things like killing whites to make them feel what we felt 400 years ago" The "video attacking woman" was a video of a debate like show where a man disagrees with 3 girls on a couple of different matters. Seriously, how disgusting do you have to be to resort to name calling people you don't even fully understand the views of?
