4 Signs You Have Raynaud's Disease | You Look Okay To Me

4 Signs You Have Raynaud's Disease.
Raynaud's Disease (or Raynayd's Phenomenom or Syndrome) is a condition that usually affects the fingers and toes, although sometimes affects other body parts like the nose, lips and nipples. The condition causes the affected body parts to change colours when exposed to cold temperatures (although stress and anxiety can trigger the condition as well)
Raynaud's can happen on it's own (primary) or be caused by an underlying condition (secondary).
If you think that you may be showing signs of Raynaud's be sure to chat with your doctor.

I was diagnosed with Raynaud's when I was 2 years old. my best tip would be to put your hands in your armpits when they get really bad. It's the warmest place on your body!

There’s also the possibility of blood rushing too quickly back to your hands if you heat them up too fast - that will cause swelling, blistering, and a lot of pain. Also, chilblains are a symptom of Raynaud’s. Cramps and pain in the joints are possible as well just from overuse. Not being triggered by the cold. In hot weather, your affected areas will swell and turn bright red as well.

My aunt who is a nurse diagnosed me with this while we were swimming in Lake Superior with my cousins. It was July so the naturally cold water was as warm as it was gonna get, and while it was cold my cousins were all content but my hands turned nearly 100% white and they *hurt.* I also have a lot of the risk factors, female, "child bearing age", I live in a colder climate, I have family who has it, etc. Happy to know I'm not alone!

I do indeed have Raynauds syndrome. I've had it for a decade or so now or, at least that's how long I've been diagnosed. When I was little, my mom thought I was very odd. I would get cold and never really warm up but, as I got older, being cold would be severely painful. I'm also asthmatic, so winter kinda sucks for me but, it's still my favorite season. I can always put more on but, once you're hot wdyd 🤔🙄? Anyhow glad I found you on here, please make lots of videos. I'm a big fan and as soon as I figure out the whole podcast thing, I'll watch those too! Your voice is very soothing.

I used to ski and found wearing silk gloves, then hand warmers and then mittens helped my fingers. Not sure why, but mittens are way better for me! Also if you keep you core warm, it means less blood is needed to keep your main internal organs warm to keep you alive, therefore your extremities may be warmer! Not a doctor, just my experiences and tips!

I bought a pair of heated gloves, charged via usb, which were very expensive at about £100 but the heat is great and really helps with my Reynaud's and stops my hands getting really cold as they always have even on a relatively mild day since I was very young. I mostly live in the Highlands of Scotland which is very silly for someone with Raynaud's so I try to escape to my holiday home in southern Spain as often as possible as I never get it there.

I was in france and it was about 28°C and i was in the sea, but my fingers still went white. My mum took a photo because obviously you cant just go to the doctor when it happenes. So I got diagnosed when I was 11 ish I think. I was walking to school once and I didn't have my gloves, but when I got to school I was crying And i couldn't stand due to the pain, I felt sick. I am a TA in elementary and around the end of the year, I sometimes get pulled to sub for periods of time. I was subbing in a 2nd-grade class that wasn't one of the few I usually am sent to support but a girl I sort of knew came up to me saying that her finger had suddenly started to her and I look and this finger is like bright ass red. I know kids can be sneaky so I did try a few things, we went to go wash it off and I even got the red marker from her own bag and asked her if it was okay if I put the red marker on her other finger so we could compare if she was trying to pull a fast one on me. But the marker finger washed off way easier and wasn't as bright. The nurse brought a different kid back to the room (one of the students punched him trying to get water) and I brought the girl over and asked about it and she said it was just chip dust, it stains horriblyy, but like... sure she did have Doritos at snack but at most that shit stains orange not bright ass fucking red. It was close to the end of the day, and the nurse wouldn't give her anything for it so I just looked it up, found this, and told the girl to have a discussion with her mom when she gets home. I always leave 30 minutes before dismissal but when I left her hand was still red but she said it didn't hurt as much. It was close to the last day of school so I was too busy and never really got to follow up but I hope she's okay. I do hope deep down the nurse is right it's just a stain cause I don't want my students to be in pain. But also I'll be mad for being played like a fiddle. But what you said in this video sounds a lot like what we were discussing and a tiktok I stumbled across led me to remember that girl and then look it up again to come to your video. Great presentation you really explain things well. EDIT: I wasn't with the kids all day and didn't have much time to look up color change so it might have started earlier in the day. IDK she never said anything about other colors.

I might have this condition. I've dealt with swellen fingers that bruised after the swelling goes down. It's painful and uncomfortable. It also effects my feet. I've had bruises from it on the bottom of my feet. My hands randomly bobble up and the vocals pop causing the bruises. The first time it happened I was in grade school. I was anxious that day because we had two tests. My hands and feet were icy cold, my friends thought it was funny and odd. They tried helping me get warm but it didn't work. In class my pinky and middle finger started swelling up and it got painful. I showed the teacher and she sent me to the nurses office. They didn't know what to do. They called my mom. It happened often when I was younger. Now it usually happens after I have a few days of stress. My face also bloats and my eyelids bruise. Once it looked like I was punched in the face. I've been to the doctor for it but they said they don't understand what it is. I've never been diagnosed with anything that can cause it. I am going to speak to my doctor about the possibilities of Raynaud's disease. It would make sense. Thank you for sharing. It's so much help. ❤️

Hands look like a whitish colour. I put hands under warm running water and slowly hands get better. Guess I have to get a new body in heaven to rid me of this problem. God bless.

I have rheumatoid arthritis and Im certain I have this Raynaud's. My hands and feet are always cold, when I'm outside and it's cold out they turn splotchy red white and purple. It is extemely painful when they get cold it feels like they are on fire and smashed and broken, it hurts so bad to ride my bike in to work right now because it's becoming winter. When I go indoors , if I don't actively try to warm my hands up they take a really long time to go back to normal. Also when I come in from the cold , my hands turn super bright red from my knuckles down my fingers and BURN and throb and tingle so bad for quite some time. I am always cold. I have a liver disease on top of RA, I've been hoping that this unbearable coldness will go away after I am fully treated but it doesn't seem to be getting any better. The GI doctor told me all of the symptoms I have must be from RA because she has never had anyone with them for their liver. Can't treat RA until I'm done with that liver stuff. I believe I had this for a long time, as well as the RA and just lived with it unknowingly until I got sick from my liver problem and then all of this autoimmune disease stuff became a major problem. This sucks. I just want to feel warm again it isn't even December and I'm begging for summer to come back because I had a few months of relief.

I wrap my fingers around ice paks to kill the itching and tingling. Dressing warmly and keeping warm is a total myth because coddling the disease makes it worse. My hands swell up because I'm warm and outside is cold. In Raynauds the body wants the outside condition, whether it's hot or cold, so if you're outside your hands don't swell up. but at the same time they turn purple and white and shrivel up and hurt because they're frozen. It's a trade-off. In the summer it's warm outside and warm inside, so no problem of course, but in winter, my hands at least need cold temps to not swell and become unbendable. You have to force the disease to like the cold temps. That's why the ice water therapy works.

Hi, I haven't been to the doctor yet so can you tell me if I have the disease you have? My legs and arms are mostly cold, when it's warm outside just like summer, then it's okay, but it sometimes happens in a warm room that I can't warm my arms and legs. The skin color on my arms and legs always changes, ie they are always like blue hands, purpels etc...mostly my problem is not that my hand and legs are cold, but it irritates me that my skin color changes. The problem appeared to me 4-5 years ago, but the last 1-2 years have been getting worse and worse in terms of cold on the hands and feet and changing skin color. Mostly my body is warm and my hands and legs(toes) are cold

I just subscribed to your channel. I went to my dr today because I've been experiencing burning, stinging, and swelling for about 3 weeks on my fingertips when I touch anything cold or frozen. The most frustrating part for me is trying to clean my meat before cooking. My dr never said I had Raynauds, she pretty much said it's the nerves in my fingers. I know I have Raynauds based on the symptoms.

I’m not sure if I have it, can anyone help me? My hands have always been cold even at room temperature, and when it’s cold and I’m outside they go dark purple and the fingers go orange. Never white though. Also, they warm up reasonably quickly (30-40mins) and I’ve never felt any of the pricklyness or something. Is it likely I have it?

Is it possible to have this only in the toes? My toes turn white and numb like this, but there usually isn't any pain, and my fingers don't turn white (even though my hands and feet are usually always cold, even when I'm not feeling cold). I've always had this, but it never really bothered me, and I just thought it happened to everyone when their feet got cold.

I am doing research on raynauds atm. I've been asked if I've got it several times. When I am outside and get cold my hands go purple with orange blotches. They become painful and difficult to use. The pain is a stingy kinda pain. My finger joints get achy when I move em. I dont know why it happens and it doesnt quite sound like raynauds

I've had this since I was 16 and it's just in my nipples. Its extremely painful and embarrassing because the only thing that makes it feel better is to rub the area to get the blood flow going as well as warm up the area. So being in the nipples you can imagine how I look in the winter. As I got older I'd what people think and just explain why I'm rubbing my chest lol

Nathan Charlesworth only somewhat it's just a start. I recommend pressing your inner hands and swollen knuckles against ice packs during flare-ups. I find that when I do that I don't have swelling or itching for a good couple of weeks after that.

I get so exhausted by comments like this. Why would this be caused by vaccinations? Are you just going by gut feeling, which as we all know is much more reliable than thorough scientific research and testing? Are you one of those people who believe that vaccinations are the root of all evil, and who would much rather just have whooping cough, measles and polio come back and become deadly epidemics again? I'm tired.

@@em8842 not sure why you would be exhausted, vaccinations have many many side effects including arthritis and people younger than the average age, I have a daughter in her twenties that was directly affected bite her DPT shot when she was 2 years old. This vaccination made her autistic and she has a myriad of health conditions now one of which is this particular disease. There is no history of arthritis in my family whatsoever. Do your research

@Kat I would also like to add that my sister-in-law and I have the same pediatrician and vaccinations came from the same lot. She has two children with full-blown Asperger's and structural problems with their bones and so forth. Our children were absolutely fine prior don't even get me started

  • @em8842

@@shelleygold4923 What doctor told you that any of those health issues were caused by vaccinations? Just because someone is autistic and also vaccinated, or has arthritis and is also vaccinated, does not mean that one was caused by the other. Also, the people who cannot be vaccinated because they experience side affects (which is always a risk, like with literally ANY medical treatment. Chemo and radiation has WAY worse and more common side effects, but you still get chemo and radiation, because it's better than dying of cancer.) are exactly the people who are protected when the majority of people ARE vaccinated. Herd immunity. Do YOUR research, and don't claim that your own personal and biased experience trumps actual scientific research, statistics and decades of medical experience. Vaccinations DO NOT cause autism, it has been thoroughly debunked. People like you are putting people at risk - babies, the elderly, immunocompromised people. Plus, I would rather my child has autism than dies of polio or the measles or infects and kills someone else's child. So yes. Sorry for the rant, but yes. I'm tired. And vaccinated. But I don't blame my vaccinations for being tired.
