4 MORE Car Nerd Arguments I'm Tired Of Hearing......MORE Stupid Things Car Guys Say. Tesla Plaid 0-60s? More Like Nissan Leaf Supremacy! Hype is Destroying Car Culture, especially JDM Car prices. From 80% Of car sales being SUVs, to the inevitable demise of fun sports cars and the consolidation of one track minds, corporations will make cars become specced out compliances...and make you pay 200% more for them. The Average car now costs $47K, let that sink in. That's half of 100K basically. No wonder my generation can't afford houses now. Y'all care so much about Specced out iPhone 15's that cost $1400 and now want the same thing with cars. When a phone is specced out, at least 40% of $1000 Is just $400, but for a car, it's THOUSANDS, sometimes even TENS OF THOUSANDS.

For the Furniture and Appliances part: I remember my grandfather telling me how they transported a washing machine with a Trabant 601 sedan, and that car is not big or anything by all means, but taking out the rear and passenger seats, putting in the washing machine, then fitting the passenger seat again was enough and they got it home. The few times you have to actuallly transsport large stuff you can also step out of your comfort zone for once and it is just fine.

Nah, Bladed being a nanny for 12 year olds who sit on forums and social media pretending they own their dad's car. Nobody buys an SUV for trunk space, it's higher seat first, than everything else. You just sit more comfortably, and get in and out more easily. Than comes the prestige factor of owning "almost an offroader" (this actually might be only russian/european thing, here normies call SUVs "jeeps" and sometimes classify crossovers as "jeeps" too, and owning a "jeep" is very prestigious because that's what mafia did in the 90s). After that comes AWD, which, I admit, most normies have no idea how to use and probably don't need (lemme tell you horrible stories how my non-car parents and older sister used center diff lock button on a permanent 4WD Daihatsu Terios Kid because it was raining). And, finally, as 4th priority, comes the trunk space. That's how people usually go the SUV route. My personal reason for buying an SUV is, aside from the first and the main reason I mentioned, that I just prefer how long 3 row SUV body looks. My soon to be achieved dream car is X164 Mercedes GL with Offroad Pro package - SUV, the most beautiful car in history, a perestigeous Mercedes-Benz and a sleeper offroader - all at once! Best car ever made, arguably!

@@cyjanek7818 I hate when people try to pseudorationalise. Both car and non-car people. Recently I come across that video where the dude in a white shirt said people who buy crossovers are "should've-bought-a-golf". He sound logical talking about how the trunk space and 5 seats are not exclusive to SUVs and can be provided by something as small as VW Golf, which is true, but... this whole idea of "yOu DoN't NeEd" makes very little sense! In places like US - sure, a car is a necessity. But that guy, I'm pretty sure, was from Europe. Who really needs a car in Europe? You just buy it because you want and because you can. Maybe some people do fall into that interior space trap, so maybe to some extent that specsheet nerd thing is true. It really is a common fallacy to choose a severely overbuilt vehicle in case you need that extra capability. So maybe I was wrong and take only one perspective into account. But what's also wrong is trying to rationalise and explain how nobody needs an SUV because it handles like trash (absolutely adequate at legal speeds), is bad on gas (like 5% worse?) and doesn't look as good (very subjective). Nobody NEEDS an automobil (maybe not the case in 'murica, but they all are filthy rich there, they can afford one b*tt in a 7-seater), nobody NEEDS an iPhone, nobody needs a FREAKIN MORNING COFFEE EVERY DAY. People want all sorts of irrational "wants".

While I should have probably spent that money on a newer model, ultimately, I feel like this Bonneville will definitely make me happier and it's actually paid off. We used to bring multiple children home from school and we regularly went on smaller vacations with that car. Now, that I and my sisters are becoming adults and are likely to move out, my mother wants a smaller car. She has no use for such a big car for shopping or anything else. I did fine in the snow in my 1984 Ford Fairmont, as well as everyone in our family who owned Buicks, et al. My 2016 sedan was terrible in the snow because cars are much lighter than they were, No weight means no traction. I traded mine in for a Crosstrek whilch is more like a sedan. It’s great in the snow but avoids the top heaviness of most SUVs. You’re right about people putting faith in their cars and 4WD though. I agree with the furniture problem and the car problem. Although I will shoot back that it's even worse when you consider the fact that most people in their 20s (24, speaking in experience here), can't afford a credit card to build their own credit, because guess what - you need a good credit to get your own credit card so you can build your own credit, but you can't get one from a recognized bank unless you already have good credit! Which is where secure cards come in, granted, but it gets worse - because as the cost of living continues to increasingly go up with no signs of slowing down, wages aren't even keeping up! Which means the average American has to work 2 full time jobs to be able to make a decent living for themselves that's just barely above the poverty line! I can't afford a vehicle. I can't afford a mattress. I sleep on the couch in my living room because GOOD GOD, HAVE YIU SEEN THE PRICES FOR JUST A FRICKIN BED THESE DAYS?! I also can't afford health insurance, or car insurance, or repairs, or the car itself, and can just BARELY afford my $625/mo rent for my POS single wide trailer thats falling apart! Im stuck having to go to food banks and asking for rides there and back because I'm not carrying all that shit back for 4 fucking miles. Fuck that shit. In this 104°F heat? Hell fucking no. So when I personally hear someone say "Oh, you just don't like it cuz you can't afford it," I look at them with the impulsive response of "Do you want to come see what's currently in my mini fridge?"

It always amazes me how people are now conditioned to want to buy a new car every 4-5 years because of these "newer, better" features that practically don't really change your day to day operations. Last September, I was fortunate enough to have the means to buy a Tesla Model 3 in cash. It's a car that I really wanted for a variety of reasons and plan to keep as long as I physically can. Because of this, the first thing I thought was, "How can I protect this?" and started looking into PPF and ceramic coatings. During my research, the amount of videos mentioning thinking about, "How long do you plan to keep it?" and "Would you want to spend another $2k on a used car for this coating/film if you were buying this?" was honestly shocking, as if you're wrong for not trading in your car every 4-5 years for something new. It's dumb. I have the car I want, it's paid off and insurance + maintenance is cheaper than my prior vehicle. Why would I want to get rid of it? It's sad how people get conned into getting into an endless cycle of debt.

I thought “I’m 16 and like to go camping and maybe I’ll start another project and need to haul shit in the back” and now I never use the back and don’t use it to go camping. I don’t even go off road because there’s not really any trails within a 30 minute radius that I know of and I don’t want to drive to talladega national forest. I’d honestly be happier with a punchy little hatch

I drive a front wheel drive car not even all wheel or 4 wheel drive. I just fold the back seats down if I need more room in the trunk and that’s worked for me. I bought a bunch of flooring and hulled it using my car. I like camping too and all my camping gear fit just fine in the trunk and whatever didn’t fit I put in the back seat. With the seats folded down I can also fit a bike in the trunk and I go hit the trails on my bike. Plus with the proper tires I took my car off roading a bit to a secret beach my friend told me about that’s where we camped for the night. Did it all with my front wheel drive car. I don’t really see the point of an SUV unless you had to hull big items like furniture or something.

Another point from that Not Just Bikes video I think is worth mentioning is that station wagons provide just as much and in some cases more cargo room than an SUV but apparently at some point Americans decided station wagons aren’t cool since I can count on one hand the number of new station wagons you can buy right now, and only two of them are a reasonably priced affordable car the average person can buy

I bought a used Kia Soul EV 2018 a few years ago with a 13 second 0-60. It's an awesome car and it handled really well. Have been through multiple Washington state snowstorms and only failed to make it up 1 hill because of front wheel drive. Ah well, just walked the quarter mile home and parked it in a church parking lot overnight until the snow thawed the next day. Luggage space fits about two-three suitcases. Perfect for airport runs. If I really need more space I can fold down the back seats and have tons of space for everything. I take it camping, on road trips (yes even though it has a 110 mile range), up mountains and along rivers. Finding parking for it when I do decide to go into a city isn't difficult, as it's tiny compared to a F250 Super Duty Crew Cab sister-fucker truck (which they insist is absolutely necessary to have so they can haul about 3% of the time.) It's also super cheap to drive, it only costs me about $2.50 to completely charge it, letting me get around for a few bucks at a time.

I'm 45. Shows like The Dukes of Hazzard, Knight Rider, and the Smokey and the Bandit movie ignited my love for cars when I was a kid in the 80s. When it comes to car brands, I lovem all. Each brand has their faults and each brand has their pros. In my opinion, a car is only as good as its owner. Of course, there are certain "platforms" that are known for their unfortunate shortcomings. My current platform ('19 R55 MINI) is known for several shortcomings. I don't care, though... Now that I've put the time and money into fixing those problems, my Clubman S is the best and most fun car I've ever owned. Sometimes, I think I'm the only guy in Louisville who owns a tricked out MINI. I've owned the car for 5 years, and I've literally never come across another modded MINI. Not even at meets. The last car show I went to had hundreds of nice cars... Not a single MINI. I couldn't have picked a better sleeper. Talking about 0-60s... It runs a nice 4.4. That's good, but it's the cars handling that makes me smile. I built the car to track. Unfortunately, work and life have gotten in the way of my track dreams, but holy crap it doesn't matter. The things I can do in that little car still blow my mind. It's not bad for a car that's listed as a station wagon on the title. As quick and nimble my R55 is, I get lip from the car community all the time from people who don't know the first thing about my platform. I've even been laughed at. For me... If your car makes you happy, then you've got a nice car. That's what matters. That's why I love all cars and all brands.

Granted, it's not the long-range of Teslas and other models that push 350 miles, but do you _really_ need that range or can you get away with renting a petrol car for the road-trips/vacations? My dad bought a 55 inch tlc tv like 8 years ago and still works like new. There’s no need for a new tv every year if it works it works

Totally agree on the whole tv/appliances stuff. Going on 7-10 years with my tv and it still turns on😂

I agree with this so much. I splurged and got the Ioniq 5 RWD SE back in January 2022 and I couldn't believe how many people made me feel silly for not getting the highest trim AWD model. I was like it goes fast enough, I don't need AWD, and it's the most expensive car I've ever owned and that's with the tax credit that it's no longer available for. My previous car was a Honda Fit which is no longer available in the US.

Watching this video made me realize I've been living my life all wrong. And here I was, thinking I needed an SUV to carry my Home Depot wood

One of my fears is that by the time I can properly afford the cars I want there will be nothing but ugly electric SUVs left on the market it sucks that it's the way it's going

I’m totally with you on Americans suv obsession. The biggest thing that confuses me about is is the fact that most people don’t realize how much better a coupe/sedan/hatchback rides and handles. This is also the same reason I’m not a huge Tesla fan because they honestly don’t handle that well especially compared to the Porsche Taycan. I would rather have a car that handles well and is fun to drive than a car that accelerates ridiculously fast or has a ton of trunk space.

@@just_your_localguard9612 That could be more attributed to poor road maintenence and no alternatives to driving I think

The funny thing is that I have an SUV, and I totally agree. The only reason I have it is because it was cheap and well maintained. I was looking for a Civic.
