    I don't know what type of hair I have but I'm trying to go natural from permed again. The STRUGGLE is so real when it comes to styling my hair, I really miss being able to QUICKLY comb my hair and go. The longest I've went without a perm is 10 months (I wasn't ready), now I'm 6 months in and it feels good but the daily struggle of how to style my hair is still so very real 😂😂😂

    I'm starting my transition as well. Last relaxer was in march. I've had relaxed hair since about 17, but I've decided to transition back to natural because I want that natural, healthy, full hair. Your a couple of months ahead of me, but I definitely look forward to my transitioning journey with someone else who's going through it, and you've been completely natural before so you would know some do's and dont's. Good luck on your journey.

    Natasha Jackson You can have thick healthy full relaxed hair, as well. Even when my hair is relaxed it is super thick and mid back length, sort of like PrettyWitty77 here on youtube. When I said I was transitioning people asked me why because I had thick healthy relaxed hair. I decided to because I am curious about my natural hair texture; I don't know what it is and I want to know. Been relaxed since I was 8 so I don't remember.

    yay I'm 5 months into transitioning and I'm also type 4. my story is similar to yours. I big chopped Dec 2014 but ended up relaxing my hair Jan 2016 because being in the military I felt my hair wasn't accepted with all the rules on how we're allowed to wear our hair. It was upsetting I gave up but I rather ed have healthy relaxed hair than heat damaged natural hair from straightening it to fit into a decent bun. so I kept relaxing until Dec 2016 I decided I didn't want to let the way the world view my hair affect my choice so I stopped. I was happy when my hair was natural I liked it alot. right now I'm easing into natural by transitioning instead of big chopping again because I want to hold onto my length for a while but I might big chop soon because these two textures are complete opposites. so glad I found your channel and we're kinda on the same time line 💜💜💜

    Queen Gatita Hey sis! We are right around the same time transitioning. I feel you, I don't want to chop off all my length either... not yet. So far I've just been keeping my hair really moisturized, so the two textures haven't been much of an issue. Fingers crossed it stays that way lol

    Angel GRAVES you can definitely do it!! The beginning stages is rough because u will experience a lot of shedding and it will get tangled easily because u will have 2 completely different textures. My goal was to transition for 2 yrs and big chop, but that didn't work out. lol I big chopped 8 months into it, and I can say after cutting it My hair had just be growing and growing more than I expected it to. I'm 11 months post relaxed and I just love how it's turning out!!! I will recommend to use olive oil over coconut oil, and when u wash your hair switch ur routine, condition first, detangle, twist and shampoo the roots ONLY. This minimizes the breakages and promotes hair growth!❤

    When I was 17 everyone I knew was relaxed so when I would get a wash n set and the next day my hair was curly and frizzy I didn't know what else to do with it so I relaxed. It's not until I started looking at pictures at the age of 17 seeing my curly fro's and natural curls, I said why did I ever relax my hair it was beautiful.

    I will be four months post relaxer on December 15th 2017. I have noticed that I have 2-3 inches of new growth already and the roots of my hair are all curled and if I place any product on my hair, it waves up! Did you experience this too?

    From one creamy crack to another. That other creamy crack is called deep conditioner, because I never needed to use it until I started transtioning. Not to mention natural hair seem to require way more product than relaxed hair. I am broke so I buy the minimum amount of product. But even so, I have spend more money in natural product in 5 months than I have spend on a boxes of relaxer for the last 4 years. And I still feel like my hair is unmanageable and always dry. Good grief, I don't know if I can make it the whole 2 years, but I never had short hair so I don't know if I can big chop either.

  • @mandylaw1689

    SourStrawberrys same here. only difference is you are not exposing your body to the harsh chemicals of relaxer. i dont use a whole lot of product. suave shampoo and conditioner olive oil or coconut oil from the supermarket and medicated sulfer 8 to keep my hair follicles stimulated is all ive been using. all reasonably priced. most of the time i put in crochet braids so im not having to go through my products so fast. i know our hair is most likely different but thats what seams to work for me so far cuz yes...some of those products can get pricey.

  • @SourStrawberrys

    @SourStrawberrys

    Mandy Law The harsh chemicals thing is nonsense. Been using it for 15+ years my mother and grandmother even long and we have had no issues. It is like the people who have a problem with Advil and other common meds that have been used by people for many years now because they think that they have some type of harmful ingredient. The thing is too much of anything is bad for you. I people have a problem with chemicals or products that may contain a harsh chemical in it, than stop using chemicals period. That means no hair dyes, shampoos, soaps, Nair, makeup, etc. Meds as well as many common med contain ingredients that can be harmful; the warning labels are always lengthy. If you have been using it yourself for many years and have caused you no problems than there is no real issue. People tend to take the rare worse case senerios that have occured due to people misusing the product and generalizing it. If it doesn't apply to you or anyone you've known than it is probally bullshit or misleading information. There is a video of people comparing it to drain cleaner or the ingredient in its pure state, but what people fail to realize is that things like drain cleaner can Nair contains way more of the ingredient than relaxer and they are meant for two completely different purposes. Also the ingredent in its pure form is going to be much more stronger. Put Nair or drain cleaner or your head for 2 minutes vs a relaxer and see the difference. People are often misinformed.
