The problem is that stance is a walking gimmick. Doesn't parry mids. At high level play there's not going to be much reason to use the counter part of her stance. As soon as you see her in the stance use df1 or just block and defend her mix

Actually, my statement that it will be entirely useless at a high level may be a bit presumptuous. You won't see the counter triggered a lot at high-level play, but the threat of the counter itself does force the opponent to limit their toolset

so i saw the trailer reveals for all chars available , saw azucena and thought " here is our broken eddie of the season" , searched gameplay of her just to find out how close to the truth i was , the truth was even darker 🤣

Azucena is going to feel like such cancer to play against but so fun to play with

I'm more annoyed by the Victors than the Azucenas.

I can tell she gonna be more than just annoying if someone is actually mastered her or is good with her especially dodging n parry moves she does😂

Haven't played Tekken since the old days, back when we had the arcade machine in our mall,. Was wondering for someone who hasn't touched all the other Tekken games, would I have a hard time getting into this newer one? And would it be wise getting into this even tho I never played the ones after the first one??

T8 is the most friendly game in the genre towards new players. Not just within Tekken games, but within the whole fighting genre. It will walk you through everything you need to know in the Arcade Quest mode, and basically teaches you the game mechanics and ways to fight.

How exactly does her dodge work? is it an auto parry like Leroy's hermit stance or more a timing parry like Leroy's b2?

Auto, whenever you attack her with a high or low while she's in stance she'll just avoid it, in heat she'll do it enhanced and punish you automatically too. So you essentially just need to spam mids, but even that isn't easy given she felt like she was + on everything. I'm sure she wasn't really but it did feel like it.

These are tekken notations U=up D=down B=back F=forwad 1=left punch 2=right punch 3=left kick 4=right punch

The parry stance doesn’t work with mid attacks e.g. Paul’s Deathfist, Hwoarang’s Skyrocket, Jin’s Demon Paw, etc. They made sure that Azucena wasn’t too OP, and she isn’t in some aspects.

I get annoyed every time I see this character. Just her existence is annoying.

Definitely a scrub killer. But I think if you know the matchup she might not be that hard to deal with - especially with characters like Jin who have crazy good toolkit. Df1 range is buffed. He still has b2,1, ff2, 2,1,4 and f4 (f4 pickups are easy as piss now). He now also has f3,1 and df3. Man's STACKED in terms of having option to control the neutral and pepper her with pokes.

I’m going to try to gear my Jun and Hwoarang to nullify Azucena as best as I can, she does seem terribly annoying but kudos to whoever perfects her. She may be a good counter to frame-locking characters like Steve it seems

You're looking at this wrong, she can't enter her parry stance defensively and she doesn't have much for safe high crush. She's nothing special for dealing with frame-trapping Steve and his B1. Think Leroy for that, or Paul with his uncanny evasion.

@@Yxqhi Kicks are still long range attacks… physics still applies. This is why he keeps getting countered = Relying on the WRONG kicks… the high kicks are very obvious.
