    Just as added info if you respond. Started mounjaro and animal based diet in Feb. Was 568lbs, 10.1 A1C, in pain and achy all the time. 506.4 today, got off 1 of the 2 diabetic meds I was on, A1C at 5.8, pain severely diminished, able to walk much better, and actually help around the house a lot more. Use Splenda and Splenda Stevia. Drink 1 or 2 2-liters of diet soda a week.

    It seems like I remember hearing something about artificial sweeteners raising insulin. Since your experiencing that sweet sensation, a super sweet unnatural sensation by the way, the brain kicks insulin production into overdrive. Which I'd imagine could cause some problems such as low sugar eventually, possibly creating hunger cravings due to the low blood sugar because of the spike in insulin.

    @chuckMvideos That might be possible in the future. Right now, my average is slowly going down. When I average under 90 fasted, cutting artificial sweeteners would be the next step, but right now it's stopping me from eating whole cream cheese pies, with 2 large pizzas and a reg 2 liter, like I use to do.

    I think it has to do also with leveraging the Dawn effect. You are going to have that regardless of when you sleep. I think if you can eat “breakfast” as close or during that Dawn effect you will have fewer spikes during the day because breakfast will be rolled into your Dawn numbers. The other meal (assuming you are TMAD) just needs to be within 4 or 6 hours of the Dawn meal. Hope this helps

    The time on the CGM (thank you!) was very educational. There are times it would change and I couldn't really explain it. I liked trying different things to see the effect.. I went to get a malt and the wife said "your having a malt??". "Yes..I'm doing research here so let it be!". The true spikes (and no surprise) is any sweetened drink. Just BAM it's going up. I suppose that is worse than something that slowly makes it go up..like ice cream?

    Apparently they can be just as bad for spiking blood sugar because of how the body reacts to the flavour. But you can try it for yourself if you have a glucose monitor and see how your body responds.

  • @authenticmslife
    @authenticmslife2 ай бұрын

    Hmmm, this gives me an interesting idea to try. My issue is low blood sugar, not high. When I went carnivore last year I cut out all sweet things completely, and had already been sugar free for over 13 years. But maybe I'll try adding in a little bit of stevia here and there and see if it helps get my blood sugar back up in a better range overall. I never eat at night as it wrecks my sleep. So that one has never been a temptation and I sure don't want to start having to do it. But I did start forcing myself to have little snacks between meals to try and get things more balanced. It helped, but also is part of what's making me gain weight.

    With fasting, I have FINALLY gotten my glucose level down to 65-82 and my ketones in the 3 range with the highest being 4. Got my ratio under 20 one time and alot of them under 25. I am checking them 1st thing in the morning, 2 times during the day, and before bed. One question I have is feeling nauseous - I am taking my ADK, iodine, methyl factors+ (riboflavin, B6,B12, Folate, &Bataine Anhydrous), & DIM SGS+ - since I am taking them on an empty stomach, i am guess this is causing the nauseous feeling? Do i just stop taking them while fasting? I am doing 48 hour fast, then 23:1 with my meal around 1pm. Slowly but surely losing weight - my stomach is getting flatter though!

    I make a non fruit power smoothie many late mornings with monk fruit liquid drops (one of my two meals of the day) and have not seen any blood sugar spikes - and I wear a CGM as as well as finger stick if there are any doubts. I do not have diabetes. Maybe it's the impact of the healthy fats from the pecans, avocado, MCT powder, chia and hemp seed, and full fat yogurt I add to it that's minimizing any spikes. Often times my sugar doesn't move from my morning fasting level upon waking. Sometimes it may move to the high 90's, but then drops after 2 hours back to normal. Because Dr. Boz has raised the fake sugar concerns in the past as well as others I respect, I continue to keep a close eye on it. Everyone's body is different. I enjoy smoothies with monk fruit, and unless I see they are hurting me I'll continue to make them. At 73 one has to have some enjoyment - correct? I'm also wearing a CGM as I'm on a cholesterol lowering PCSK9 inhibitor. Some of the studies show about 7% - 8% of the people on them develop diabetes over time, so I track my blood sugar for that reason also.

    @@eileenromps9266monkfruit is not a sugar alcohol lol It’s a plant, like stevia Get the pure drops, no sugar alcohols added. Stevia comes this way also.

    @@YeshuaKingMessiah I should have been more specific…. Most sugars labeled monk fruit are erythritol with maybe 5% monk fruit. 100% monk fruit is VERY expensive. My statement still stands regarding testing to see if monk fruit or erythritol impact your glucose. Thanks!!!

    That is a very fine level. More interested in your fasting reading in the morning as most people increase over night while sleeping.
