This would be a good video except it's basically clickbait. You tied a bunch of different knots, claimed some were bad, provided "alternatives", and then didn't explain why one was better than the other and the reason why is because there is no knot better than the other, only knots better suited to do specific tasks. Every knot has a use. The first knot is known as a larks head or larks foot. It has its uses, but almost none of them are for tying the end of a rope around an anchor point. The "better" knot is a modified larks foot that is better for trying the end of a rope around an anchor point but is not the best option when compared against a bowline. This video did not provide what I was looking for and exists purely for clicks.

I was also confused about the beginning. Why is he dissing larks head? It's good for making a stretcher, and is the liturgically correct knot for tying up the belt of an alb.

First was a cow hitch. Nothing wrong w it w long tails. Alternate looked like something out of Ashley just to snug up a loose end tighter. Second was some take on an exploding sheet bend. Third was an overhand loop (nothing wrong w it for something quick) transformed into a bowline on a bite (very strong, stable loop that can be tied in middle of a rope and, unlike overhand if it experience load, easy to untie.) Fourth looked like some variation of a highwayman's hitch. (Hold fast to a rail/pole and like exploding sheet bend easy to pull loose using the tail.)

I think that this video would be a lot more useful if you explained the defficiencies in the time honoured knots and then the benefits of your recommendations as it is not always obvious (to me at least).

Возможно меньший износ веревки. Но вот вся беда в том что эти узлы сугубо специфические и в вряд-ли их кто-то использует в повседневной жизни.

как рас таки показанные узлы мало используются, потому что есть более надёжные или которые проще развязать или специфичны.. Из сотен морских узлов только тридцать используется в промышленном альпинизме, более десяти в рыбалке, и около пяти в быту. все узлы имеют варианты, названия и подходит под разные задачи. допустим форма узла влияет на силу срыва и тд...

No double half hitch, slip knot, square knot, or really any useful knots. Between working construction, tow boats, and offshore (drilling rig) I’ve never seen or used any of these.

Are these technically incorrect? Because many of these knots you show that are incorrect are actual knots. Curious non were labeled. I get how some of these are better variations but your first is clove/truckers hitch knot, and is used by many people to tie down 1000's of pounds of weight and doesnt fail, so im curious how these are "incorrect"

Nothing wrong with the first Knot (or ANY of these Knots) PERIOD depending on how it's used.

Can someone give me a plausible explanation, why some knots are wrong and others are correct?

It basically depends on the "nip", which means if two parts of the Knot which are touching each other side by side, are running in the same direction or opposite directions when tension is put on the rope. Hope that helps, I don't know how to explain better than that without a diagram.
