This bought back a memory as a kid when we were bashing thru the snow in dads 76 Patrol and in the middle of nowhere in heavy snow were a bunch of hippies in a Kingswood wagon bogged to the chassis. They were trying to carry their car unsuccessfully so we towed them for miles. We they were all buggered and freezing and had no idea where they were. We used to stay in the bush huts and leave heaps of canned food wherever we stayed. Great fun! Great memories!

A nice addition to these videos would be, that if any vehicle has an issue that stops them completing the trip, let us all know what that problem was found to be, and the end of the video. I'm sure many people would be interested, for future reference.

Sensible people use chains not to many of those 4WD 24/7
@swampypolitics9574
Жыл бұрын
@@markrovers9360 it depends. Chains dig. If it's super deep and soft you don't want chains or narrow tires. If it's not super deep and there's a solid base to grip to, then ya narrow tires or chains. That's why people that snow wheel in the mountains use really wide tires and no spin to ride ontop of packed snow. If it's 4'+ of snow the last thing you want is to dig you'll be burried. They deff coulda used chains here, but not the entire time. So putting them on taking them off constantly is a waste if its not absolutely necessary. There's a time and place.

Common problem for the zd30CRD is the fuel pressure releif valve, they get tired over the years and dont let the common rail pressurise up. easy fix, ill bet its that.
@TheSindreeeee
Жыл бұрын
That, or a injector leak. Mine had the same issue. Would not start, and died when pushing hard. Turned out to be a leaky injector, so the ZD30CRD could not get enough rail pressure to start. Needs 5000 psi to start. Would run an injector leakback test.

Tip on chains when/if you get some Let air out of your tires, put the chains on tight, then pump them back up. Chains won't budge and the tires change shape super good for snow traction. Used to get a few feet a year where I lived, our stock jeep Cherokee was unstoppable in it. Extra bonus is doing chains with studded tires.
