i think because magnus has stated that he hasnt studied chess lately, so he falling behind in theory, but when it comes to pure chess, that just comes by intuition, and he is the best at it, something you cant learn

I thought his defense was lousy in this game. Like come on. His was an exchange up in the middle game with a winning position, then he blew it up. 6:25 Why not simply g4! Deflect the knight and threaten to take Rook with Queen and mate in 1? And if a3, then the Black Queen retreats to b6 and force the exchange of Queens. It's club level chess bruh!

He Coulf play the «best move» or he can play a challenging move where he gives awsy the advantage to make a more interserting game (sorry my grammar)

I'm not. I've seen these announcers on every Magnus game and they always act like he's totally bombing and then he destroys. They're just in way over their head.

@@RpgplayersInc lol, good for you mate. These announcers are mostly gms and they simply commentate on what's on the board at a given moment and what the evaluation bar shows. They can't predict that Wesley will make mistakes and that Magnus will capitalize on them. They can only commentate on what's going on at any given moment of the game and for that they have their own knowledge and the evaluation bar. When Magnus was at -1,5ish evaluation during the early/mid game they accurately commentated on Magnus' somewhat weak attacking setup given the fact that he had to win the match in armageddon. That doesn't mean theyre "in way over their head". Try to learn some chess first before you make these kind of clueless statements.

Genius. Genius strategy. Magnus essentially played Black but as White, letting So attack first. Crazy. Magnus clearly found a losing position that IF taken advantage of, would eventually result in a an even position WITH lethal attacking chances against black. This is another level of chess.

Black queen takes pawn, I think there is no good follow up after that even though material trade is better for white.

Because Magnus next move is Rxf7+. No matter where black moves his king, white is going to win the Rook on b1.

It was an Armageddon game because they drew their classical game. White starts with more time but has to win, if it’s a draw it’s a black win and obviously if black wins it’s a win. In the rules for this event whoever has white with classical will have white in Armageddon so Magnus got the extra time but he had to win couldnt settle for a draw
