#4 Florida State vs. #11 Ole Miss | 22-point Comeback Thriller | CFB Throwback

Спорт

CFB Throwback - The #4 Florida State Seminoles and #11 Ole Miss Rebels clashed in the Camping World Kickoff in Week 1 of the 2016 season. The Rebels were on fire out of the gate, and led the Seminoles by a whopping 22 points just before halftime.
Florida State couldn't seem to do anything right, with their star running back Dalvin Cook fumbling an exchange, and then dropping the ball out of bounds on what seemed to be a walk-in touchdown and costing them 4 points after settling for a field goal. The first half was also penalty-riddled for the Noles, with numerous false starts, holdings, and offsides calls against them.
However, they used the halftime break to regain their composure and exploded in the second half with 33 unanswered points to take a 39-28 lead. Ole Miss went absolutely cold and totally collapsed, with QB Chad Kelly throwing an interception and fumbling on back-to-back possessions in their own territory. They showed some signs of life late with a touchdown to cut the deficit to 5, but failed the 2-pt attempt to bring the game within a field goal. The Noles outlasted them late with a strong kicking performance from Ricky Aguayo who went 6/6 on the night. Florida State won 45-34 and earned a major week 1 victory.

I watched this game. Throughout it, even though Ole Miss was leading, I got the feeling that they werent really in complete control. I felt that FSU could come back, and they did. As an FSU fan born and raised near campus, there’s always been (until the present dark ages) a true belief in the second half. I hate the ACC: they basically leeched off FSU for over a decade with revenue "sharing" (bowl money) and refs working us over nearly every game. To top it off, we're stuck with the worst TV contract of the P5 until 2036. 2011 was really bad with the ACC refs. 2016 Clemson got bailed out by referees every other game. Even last season they were doing almost everything they could to give Boston College the win over FSU. I actually looked up the phone number left a message at the ACC home office after that game. I refuse to donate to Warchant streams until that guy with the glasses takes down those "GOACC" FSU license plates. I'd rather have FSU go independent, but if we have to join a conference, the SEC is the best fit, even though SEC fans are almost as bad as ACC refs. Almost.

Dumbo took our best recruiter, Tim Brewster, with him, too. I will never forgive Dumbo for what he did to FSU. Leaving is bad, but leaving like that is unforgivable. Ole Miss had DK Metcalf, Evan Ingram, and AJ Brown on that offense. Man, talk about wasted talent. They should’ve been playing for a natty…

Beginning of the end for FSU and the Jimbo Fisher era. Also, Charles Kelly was fucking terrible! TERRIBLE! Had no business being the defensive coordinator at a place like FSU. I don't think he had ever coordinated a defense prior to this.

It was funny how the SEC announcers were all loud when Hottie Toddie was winning, but got quiet when shit went south. It's much easier beating the Mississippi teams than the Carolina teams. 😂
