4 Day Solo Wild Camping Adventure in the Mountains

Ойын-сауық

I travel 900 Miles for a 4 day camping trip alone in the Mountains. My adventure sees me hiking up peaks in wind and rain, camping by glacial lakes and on the ridge of one of the tallest peaks in England.

"Bob's your uncle" is a way of saying "you're all set" or "you've got it made." It's a catch phrase dating back to 1887, when British Prime Minister Robert Cecil (a.k.a. Lord Salisbury) decided to appoint a certain Arthur Balfour to the prestigious and sensitive post of Chief Secretary for Ireland. - from Wikipedia

I picked up "Bob's your uncle" from the classic Monty Python show as a kid. "Wink, Wink, Nudge, Nudge, Bob's your uncle." I am an American, but grew up near the border of BC, Canada and watched on a Canadian TV channel. Loved that show.

Fun Fact ! The mountains you are climbing are part of the Appalachian mountains in the USA. When the tectonic plates shifted some of the mountain ranged stayed in America and some shifted to England and the rest is in Scandinavia.

OK so you may have not thought about it but it looks like he is solo. That means every one of those cool looking car driving by the camera shots, he had to run ahead, set up the camera to record, drive past, stop and run back to collect the camera. Ha ha. Nicely played anyways, those shots look ultra professional.

On an oat so simple packet there's a level on it to put the water or milk into. If you put the oats in first then fill the sachet to the fill line you'll never put in too much water. You'll notice the inside of the sachet is waxy and water proof for that reason. Love your videos. I'm sure somebody had pointed this out somewhere else but I've not seen anyone doing so. Thank you for what you and your dad do. I love watching you both before bed and also when I'm fishing if I need tips! Have a good one.

Yes, this video is a Subaru 'Infomercial'...but we also have owned Subaru Outbacks for more than ten years (and then passed them on to family members.) To the point of backpacking and camping adventures, we used ours often for multi-day trail trips or (in the USA) state or national park adventures. The cargo room was most welcome. The video itself is a master class in backpacking/light mountaineering tips and techniques. I have it on my 'replay' list. My family and I have felt exactly the aches and pains of uphill and downhill hiking and the demands of hiking on scree and uneven rock trails. Getting 'back to the car' was SUCH A RELIEF! Our Lake District adventure was to hike around Derwentwater at a lower elevation. We saw younger and fitter people doing the higher hiking...but our days for that had passed. What a great trip you've taken us on!
