This was my first game growing up

There is a reason why burnout2 POI is one of the harder racing games to seek out and find at most used retro game stores. Because you'd be crazy not to want to hold on to this masterpiece.

Still own my original copy from 2002, still running smooth as the day I bough the game. Not the same for my crash wrath of cortex, I had to buy game three times because ps2 can’t read disc because of scratches…

I got my copy like a decade ago, used of course and back then it was on shelves of eb storees, but since they no longer sell even used ps3/ps2 games it's completely vanished from any shelf in the state! Time to buy my cousins copy too methinks. Only true arcade racers will hold onto this one!

it has a BOV sound so also a turbo. geez, imagine a turbocharged SRT10 Viper or a Twin-Turbo Sagaris.

Such a major improvement over the original in every way. The sound effects, soundtrack, car selection and gameplay are exceptional. Love this game a lot. Beat it twice on gamecube and xbox.

Logic in all games: Regular and vintage police cars are faster than your super model car.

Ahhh i was about 6 back then, this was the best arcade racing game. Loved all of its cars, especially the custom coupe, and the hot rod. The latter made a stunning wheelie when performing a boost start. Such fun !

For some reason back when i was a kid i really loved playing the pursuit mode, especially split-screen multiplayer pursuit, where one is the target and the other is the pursuit unit.

This was the first ever PS2 game you could play in 480p and honestly it's aged tremendously well.

At 3:05, the most famous car in the Burnout series. If it was a movie, that car would be driven by the main protagonist. The main antagonist would drive the car at 3:31.

Nice, I always liked Burnout, although my favorite was Burnout 3 Takedown, I remember playing the demo that came with NFSU2 over and over lol.

Burnout 3 game had NFSU 2 demo in it, exclusive early ps2 demo, while NFSU 2 had burnout 3 demo in the game. The joys of glory console days

GameCube doesn't even have them IIRC, but they still have the remaining 15 crash junctions that PS2 doesn't have.

I remember the custom roadster being so hard to get, thanks for the memories!

i tried so hard to win the supercar when i was a kid back in 2002, eventually i won the car with the custom roadster. now i've played the game again, i managed to win supercar using oval racer

I love this game, and the music is phenomenal.

A large majority of these cars would lay the foundation for Burnout 3's different classes; Compact, Muscle, Coupe, Sport, and Super. The Pickup and SUV types would later be used as Crash mode-only cars. And yes, some B2 cars appeared in B3 as Special class vehicles and even more appeared in the Legends PSP game.

3:05 Custom Coupe Ultimate the best! Legendary and iconic Burnout car, sad it isn't on the best Burnout game the Burnout Revenge... I bet on Revenge that car was going to be a very special car to unlock of course just like some others special cars... like gold on every crash events. :3

Huh. Never noticed that the Classic is the only car modelled with a driver inside. Every other car is empty.

This game needs a PC port, yet being identical to the Xbox version without graphical changes or something

I distinctly remember a couple of PS2 cheat sites (or maybe even magazines) saying there were two secret cars you could unlock if you completed the custom championship two times in a row without losing. Must've been something someone made up and other cheat sites copied or someone made a mistake and it was a cheat for a different game?

If this game had road rages and takedowns it would be so close to being perfect

It sucks is that you cannot select colors any custom car(except the custom roadster)in the PS2 and gamecube version. Thats only exclusive for Xbox.

They really need to give us a legacy pack already that has every Burnout game remastered with higher resolution textures and 4K UHD support (pretty much the exact same thing they did for Paradise). Think about it: doesn't this PS2 game simply upscaled in an emulator already look gorgeous? All I want is for them to bring these games to modern platforms because I don't want my baby Burnout 2 to get lost to time. I want a new audience to experience these games.
