This vid has been extremely helpful. I have shown it so a few other mages. Just by watching this vid it has increased all of our damage anywhere from 2k-6k. Great info! After almost a year away from WoW, I was somewhat hesitant to return to my arcane mage (back when we all we did was stack four and release to top charts). This definitely makes me wanna jump right back in. Nice work.

ty so much for clearing up the conservation phase i was having a major problem with mana ppl were telling me for conserve phase to make sure arcane blast is stacked to 4 before using missles with this guide its helped alot and ive noticed a significant dps increase

@Excesspace Use Arcane explosion, the dps with enough mobs up is comparable to fire aoe (without combustion). Especially if you have Imp. AE specced. If there aren't too many mobs up, just go into conserve phase so you don't have to drink every 2 pulls and slow down the run; also your CDs will be up for bosses.

The Art of bashing 1 button-maybe 2 when you get bored- for top dps...requires so much skill,someone should write a book on this subject.

Damn i got so much int procs that fucks up with my mana control x.x i need to practice. @MMOScholar Should i do a mini-burn phase and use flame orb to regen my mana,and use this mini-burn phase between the gap of the burn and conservation phase?Or should i just stick with the burn mana-35%-evo-conservation phase?

so should i throw out a flame orb off cooldown, or just when i need mana?

@themoodboy this was before i had my mage to a high lvl and i used frostbolt before using arcane spells to get in extra damage

@MMOScholar Alright will check that out. What I do is just load my own armory page in Simcraft, which then automatically loads up gear and a default priority list.

About your stat priority, how did you derive that? With the current version of Simulationcraft, I get haste>crit>mastery with Helterskelter settings, while Patchwerk settings yield crit>mastery>haste. With my current amount of haste however, I'm already getting 1.0 second AB's during Heroism, so I'll stop right there.

So, the 'conservation phase' is when your waiting for evocate to go off CD?

Isn't haste the best stat WITHOUT t11 bonus? that is when haste is below soft haste cap?

i just switched to arcane mage and i was wondering about how much haste % i want to be at because when i looked up your guy he was at 11 percent ish but your fire spec and in your fire guild video you said haste is good for fire so idk if u got more haste for when you use fire or is 11 percent good for arcane pls reply XD

Can I get your opinion on Soul Casket vs. DMC: Volcano? I've plugged my character into Sims and it's saying Soul Casket is better. I'd have to agree being that you can tie it into your burn phase along with other cooldowns, and you don't get a gap in your mana when you use it.

@MMOScholar Well actually, it makes sense. My gear is significantly lower than the 372 BiS set (which includes the trinket), and on the default sim, crit is pretty close to mastery anyway. Standing still the entire fight (Patchwerk style) devalues haste, but this is no realistic situation in my opinion, then with movement, haste makes it easier to keep up AB stacks while moving.

@Atheist269 warlocks do come out on top at the end of the fight, as soon as arcane's burst is gone, warlocks overtake them on dps eventually, well, i do on my warlock anyways. i play affliction and finish on around 24-25k dps on an average fight.

Use it on all boss fights depending on how much mana u have And how good ur dps group is I'll probably be on burn phase all fight

@Engeven i have to say haste, sucks for arcane when i was all fire fire and upgraded to arcane, i was doing 17k, and when i reforged and changed all of that i did about 22k

I know you would rather post comments on your forums, however, I can't access those kinds of sites from work. I just have a quick question... I don't get to raid... Almost ever! So the extent of my daily play is Heroic's + ZA/ZG. I completely understand all aspects of the rotation, but it is always boss rotations people discuss. Like i mentioned before, I really only run heroics, and as everyone knows heroics are extreamily trash orianted.

I really don't like how you just toss out a static stat priority - especially with arcane which stats are best are heavily dependent on your gear level. For new mages just starting out, crit is ahead of mastery. Only once your gear starts improving does mastery pull ahead.

well there is a big mistake on this guide thats is that arcane do not need haste the confusion is arcane mage do not need haste only when they have their 4 tier set which reduces the cast of AB by 10% then you do not need haste until then you need haste

The only thing that I can really criticize about this is that zythian is very arrogant " how I do what I do so well" then again he has a right to be considering how well he's doing in raids

first of all m8 gz for your dps but 1 q what about hit cap youre only 14.86%

@darkstarstar111 The "Good" dpsers have a one button rotation while they throw in a few spells to keep their mana up... Stop trying to make yourself sound good just go back to your spamming one button and be happy.

WE STILL ARE TOP DPS THEN THE OTHER SPECS. pick on frost! they only do like 2 spells and do horrible dps. leave the good dpsers alone
