About: Satisfactory
Satisfactory is a first-person open-world factory building game with a dash of exploration and combat. Pioneering for FICSIT Incorporated means charting and exploiting an alien planet, battling alien lifeforms, creating multi-story factories, entering conveyor belt heaven, automating vehicles, and researching new technologies.
This Factorio like game has heavy automation, with automated mining, crafting, and you can even automate movement!

Some of the most notable changes are: I'm no longer a craft station hogger, before my starter base was just a mess that I refused to change because I thought I'd be doing that in my main base anyway (and therefore didn't automate a lot of things) In my last world I got a bit more than 300 hours, in my new one I surpassed that progress in the first 70h! As Stated in the video, some part of getting good at building comes down to talent. But to the aspiring builders out there, having Talent doesn't mean you're good from the get go, Talent just means you progress *faster*. Anyone, talent or not, can become good with the right mindset and the proper time put in. So just keep on playing, keep on building, you'll get there soon enough.

  • @Sabamonster

Vastly underrated comment. Like most things in life; *Skill* comes at the cost of time spent. People miss-use the word talent most of the time anyhow. Like with art. Art is MOSTLY (And in some people, all) Skill. Hours and hours and hours of dedication learning the craft. Yes, some people will adapt to it sooner because of a predisposition for it but it can be learned by anyone willing to invest their time. Some of the best artists in the world couldn't draw stick-figures when they started.

Here's the thing about continuing saves and starting new worlds. I feel that starting a fresh world and doing the grind and unlocking researches all the way up to the point you can start building good stuff again, is more of a hassle and a time sink that just building a huge number of storage containers and deconstructing your entire factory and everything you've built. You can store all the items you get and it's basically the same as having a new world to play with except now you've got all the hub upgrades done and all the Ficsit Store stuff, and you'll have a heap of building material ready to go for starting your new build.

Deleting can be time consuming although I don't think it's more than starting over. I'm on Phase 4 and started building my first megafactory a couple of days ago. Megafactories done neatly take a surmounting amount of time and patience. 20 hours in and I'm still not done with the infrastructure. What's going to take a long time is moving the resources over😢

I'm always amazed by the variety and creativity of the architecture that people come up with in Satisfactory. I tend to stick to Brutalist boxes and focus more on making things work rather than making them look pretty. My current factory (videos on my let's play channel) is one square kilometre of flat foundations covered in tower blocks dedicated to a single item each. I've recently come to the conclusion that, even though I've not filled my square km yet, I'll need more space in other locations in order to make everything. I'm currently working on my iron rod production, each floor of the tower has 16 constructors fed by a Mk3 belt of iron ingots. I have TWELVE floors to build to reach full capacity, I've only done two so far. It's a lot of work.

It helps to show everyone that you are not some otherwordly creative genious, you are just some with with lots of experience that has put in the time and effort and gained the skills needed. It makes you... human. And it gives hope to everyone else that... heck, if YOU can do it, maybe I can too? It is so easy to look at the latest iteration of your (or other creators) builds and feel "Wow, I can never do that." But when you show this journey you say "Well, neither could I when I started, but I kept playing and kept trying. I'm sure you can keep playing and keep trying." Gives hope, makes me happy. You really do take a designer's approach to this game and I love it. I'm currently studying to be an architect and you have talked on the highlight that is drilled into us from day 1, iterate, iterate, iterate. And even if your first one looks like shit or doesn't function well, it's your first step towards creating a good design, think of it like a baby taking its first steps. Experimenting is vital in a design process, so, if you want a good design, experiment. Make a shitty first draft, then go on from there. Also I love how much glass you incorporate in these, showcasing just how important natural light is. A factory doesn't simply have to be an enclosed space with just machines, it can be a space that allows a user to interact with it, change things in it, and actually feel inviting, not some dark space.

Good review of your progressive saves. It mademe recall my own development across 2300 hours of play. While my last few saves have involved expansive megafactories across the map, my latest Update 5 save involves minimalist factories specialised in producing single items, where I spend more time on producing an asthetically pleasing factory rather than churning out x items per minute

Most of the time when you need huge number of machines, like for heavy modular frames in the basic tiers, you cannot fit everything inside when you build nice, so I just build a big box. but I still cannot understand how you fit everything so nice. anyways even I feel how I built my second save more efficient, faster, nicer and better than my first try. This video was more of an encouragement than a tutorial in my opinion. So.. thank you !!

coming once from Beta Factorio...well i have neither there nor here the time dedicated to it to evolve into such design. i stuck on both in the "Main convere belt bus block" desgin. and only scalti was able to push me towards something more beautiful with his modular 100% efficiency guides.

Always get inspired when I see your build... and then never managed such factories on my own but as you say, practice and time helps. Trying at the moment of an idea to make "sections". Different towers for all ingots making, one for iron, copper, steel etc. Then different "houses" per resource, and trying to have a nice transport system under the walkways just to be able to walk around and see all the different resources going all over the place, from ore all the way to the latest stages. Maybe not the most efficient way, but was a fun idea and will see how the chaos commences.... just have to tear down my builds so far as they are getting in the way :)

Even your first save spaghetti is better then where I am. I'm still trying to figure out how to make machines align to the grid, so I can build a neat factory line for even the basic resources.

I think what I'd tell newer players (also being newer myself) is that spaghet is needed in the beginning. You're introduced to new components all the time, and you need time to figure out about how many of xyz you need to create abc. After a bit you start to understand the output of a miner and how many constructors you generally need to make a reliable amount of reinforced plates, etc. And each build gets more and more optimized. Ive tried to keep it cleaner in these early stages just so i can see at a glance the amount of machinery itll take and generally how it all gets routed. But everytime something new gets introduced (I'm on Tier 6), there's an obvious "figuring it out" pattern in the base haha. Just take the little victories that you figured out how to hook up certain things. and refine over time.

I am pretty good at playing guitar, and I write songs that I like a lot, and some people think to be appealing. I get frustrated when people experience me playing my music, and then say "You're so talented." I understand that they are saying it with kind intent, and they don't understand the amount of work that I have put into working on that skillset. But it is minimalizing of the amout of time and effort spent working. When I write my most interesting stuff, it does "feel like it comes from the ether" or whatever- but realistically creativity is just smashing things that already exist together into forms that feel, look, or behave in a way that seems/is new, novel, or useful. You make really cool looking designs that do stuff that I don't think anyone would expect/imagine possible with the game. That is not magic- it is just effort and time spent. Good work dude- It will be interesting to see what you do with the 1.0 toolset.

I'm 300h into my first world, got as far as nuke and plutonium refining. It's now the last stretch to the current space elevator upgrade with nuclear pasta and the likes. What really helped me was the blueprint designer and a friend that was compulsive about making stackable modules, it's advanced our production nearly 3000 fold. I think when I finally reach that glorious end (before update 8) I'll start again in the new update, be more creative with architecture... But it will be hard moving away from my 4x4 skyscrapers of +30 smelters.

I think the important thing to remember is that there's no rush, and you can do what you want! It's like Minecraft - some people relish in the chaotic beauty of spaghetti. I personally love having open-faced factories - i just have little satellite bases with open walls - but I do close off my main base to nicely contain my resource area.

I've played off n on since 2019 release & with each new update that comes out. Including playing some experimental branch and accumulating 715 hours. With this latest update I can say I've come a long way by focusing on one thing at time. While all this time I've played, I've barely ever used walls at all or did big huge factories, but several mini's with in 1200 meter radius. Definitely ready for the next new save adventure when update 6 comes out whenever that is. 239 hours in my current update 5 save and getting close to completing the final space elevator requirements.

I'm still on my first save (very casual player) from before water was needed to make coal power. Many things have broken since then due to the various updates, but I am trying to stick with it. Still got my first spaghetti mess as well as long platforms in the sky that go off to far-away places, but I also have small mini-factories for making specific things, which was fun learning.

Not being afraid to try something different to your usual, standard method of building helps a lot, too. One other important aspect is not to be in too much of a hurry to, 'level up', as just placing factories down in a slap-dash way, (purely to get the required components to move onto the next level), means you don't spend enough time, (or the required effort), to make your factories a) efficient and b) aesthetically pleasing.) Technically, you can go back afterwards and redo factories, once you've got all the levels you want, (and in some cases, it's better to do it that way as you can organise things so they're more streamlined), but you could make the argument that it's time wasted by having to redo things. But then, it is a learning process. The only thing you're limited by is time and inclination to put the effort required into making it all happen.

No mention that new building materials and angles were added after your original builds that can help to make your build look a lot better. Although the game still in early access and there will probably be major changes later on so whatever you do you will be starting again no doubt.

My idea is build the factory backwards and come up with what you need it to make and place the machine that will make that then figure out how to feed each machine.
