    For anyone researching this task, I highly recommend just re-booting your original axles. I drove mine a dozen times or so after the boots split, but there was still grease inside and when I got the axles out and clean they looked absolutely brand new. Toyota sells complete kits with everything you need. Re-booting is the easy part compared to all the work to get the axles out. Just messy, that's it. OEM's are far superior to anything you'll find at your local parts counters. My OEM axles had 170k miles and looked brand new.

    It can be difficult to properly seat them and having the right tool to add the retaining clamp on the outside - did you struggle with that at all?

    there has been a 5 months backOrder on OEM full boot kits, at least for the Gen1 tacoma... ordered in early October and arriving NOW in mid March... 500+ nationWide backorder is what the parts dealer told I.. it is totally FKN ridiculous to wait this damn long

    Thanks, that the point in all my videos. I assume nobody has the use of a shop and doing in the home garage or driveway. Growing up me and my buds spent a lot of time in driveways wrenching, look back those were the good ole days.

    Love the video. Having an issue with seating the axle. I assume it's the c clip. I was hesitant to beat on it with a mallet, didn't know if it'll mar the end or damage the bearings?

  • @Beacon_Offroad

    @Beacon_Offroad

    Жыл бұрын

    Keep pulling it out and reinserting it in different positions. Also be sure the c clips isnt damaged or knicked. Needs to be smooth. Its quite strong and would take a lot power to damage it with a rubber mallet. Feel free to hit it pretty good

    I snapped by drivers side cv axel so part is still in the diff. It completely sheared off. I can not get it out. I welded a bar on it and made a slife hammer to bang it out, but it will not come out. Is something locked in there?

  • @Gabriel-jc2sc

    @@nwbauer91 Just the snap ring or something similar to that. It just needs more force to pull it out of there because that’s the same way it goes in.
