Welcome to the Peltor club Del! I saw all the recommendations in the previous comments, I had no idea they were so popular. Bought my first pair because I had heard of Peltor from a friend who shoots.

If I could give a young person starting off in any trade advice I'd say eye protection and ear defenders. Ear defenders are so important, all our modern battery tools can be noisy. Paslode framing nailers are lethal for your hearing. 3m peltor for me with years, well worth the money 👍🇮🇪

  • @dougsaunders8109

They have to work together and be comfortable. When you buy the eye protection the arms have to be straight so when you put on the glasses the ear defenders don’t make the glasses dig into your head. If something is uncomfortable you will not wear it. If you are looking for details about levels of protection so impact level and sound levels for ear defenders that is a whole series of learning. There is loads of information on both UK and Irish Health and Safety sites

Those red ones you had would result in hearing damage with extended use, with say a chain-saw. I have used various peltor ear-defenders for over 25 years, and though I do have a bit of hearing damage it didn't happen on the building site and has not got any worse at work thanks to quality earmuffs. Good choice and Thanks for sharing your work. I have a film on my channel about ear-defender customization/repair if you interested.... regards Lucas

I just bought a pair of ‘STIHL DYNAMIC BT Bluetooth Ear Protectors’. At £75 they're not cheap but seem robust and the battery life on them is supposed to be around 30hrs on a single charge. Not had long enough to speak about durability but they seem decent. Can listen to music and they have a built in mic AND they're cheaper than the isotunes brand that seem popular with KZreadr's (maybe because they've been given them for free..?) despite the bad reviews that isotunes seem to have.

Hi Tony🖐I hear you bud, but in this instance I thought that a quick video giving my thoughts on these ear defenders might be of benefit to someone looking to buy some👍Also, and being brutally honest, KZread, and the computer algorithm that controls it all, responds better to regular video uploads, as this helps it to recommend your content to other users, and for small, young channels such as mine, its what helps the channel grow so it can reach more people with the videos that are more informative. Before I started uploading my videos to KZread, I had NO IDEA of how much time and effort it takes to film, edit and produce, even the simplest video, and, unless your channel is getting hundreds of thousands of views a month, there really is, very little financial reward for all the effort. I appreciate your comment and hope you have a nice weekend😎Cheers Del

It's hard to know which direction to go in with KZread videos, and if guys like yourself don't leave the feedback you do, I'll never know whether what I'm doing is either good or bad. Also, yours, and everyone else's comments help to stimulate the KZread algorithm helping it recommend my videos to others. I get some really mean, spiteful and insulting comments on some of my videos, and yours certainly wasn't one of those👍

Each to their own as the saying goes. I hate earphones for numerous reasons. Firstly I find them uncomfortable and also in Australian heat they make my ears sore very quickly. 2nd Communication. I have had apprentices that wear them and when you are trying to communicate instructions to them especially from distance it can be a pain. 3rd Safety. People wearing them seem to drift off into their own little World of non awareness. Especially the sort with music playing through them. They don't hear machinery or anything else that is potentially dangerous approaching. 4th Talking tools. This may sound silly but you get used to all sorts of sounds that your tools make. When they are ailing you can hear it. Blades starting to pinch. Generally things under stress you hear and stop before you damage the tool or yourself. If I wear a pair it is as if I have lost part of the control I have over my environment and equipment. Like being in boxing gloves and wrapped in cotton wool. Just fuzzy and horrible. The other day I had to wet cut a concrete slab inside an empty room and I did use a set. For that I gave in but even then I feel like I am moon walking. Certainly not something I can do on a regular basis. But again each to their own.

Hi Dave🖐A great comment, and clearly a subject you hold strong views on👍I, personally wouldn't listen to music whilst working for tye exact reasons you mention, and you're quite right that wearing ear defenders does take away much of one of our important senses, and I think it's important to appreciate this when your wearing them👊Personally, mine are on and off my ears all day long, so I never have long periods without my full hearing capability. Unfortunately, the flip side of not wearing hearing protection, is that you may/will lose your hearing altogether😬Thanks for you input bud, and for watching😎Cheers Del
