Thanks Mark, it was one of my best fish of the year. It shows you what amazing fish there are in that river Dee.

Belting fish that mate. I've been fishing the Dee a lot myself this year and had some cracking fish but nothing as good as that. Well done 👍

What bait should I use ?

Sebyp Plesca I was using soft plastic lures, Savage gear S&P spiked. If you wanted to use a traditional bait, big garden worms are great for perch. 👍🏻

Brilliant answer I’m retired and fish 3 - 4 times a week and treat the fish I catch with a lot more care than you do. An unhooking mat is a must as you well know

Some people dont realise that perch and pike are very bad at being handled. Shame really as an unhooking mat only costs £20. I lived in handbridge for 30 years almost. Loved fishing the river but you've got crack heads foul hooking carp in the flanks on lures and all sorts. Shame as chester used to be a lovely place. Full of smack heads and spice heads now unfortunately. Belting fish non the less.

Nice fish. Unfortunately it was caught where Chester City Council who own the bandstand promenade and have a bylaw that prohibits fishing on that bank. There are signs on the Suspension bridge and bandstand saying so otherwise everyone would be fishing for them. You should be on the Handbridge side opposite, the left bank where free fishing is allowed.
