Hey Erick and Myles!!! Thanks for the cool video. I enjoyed you taking us along on your long distance flight. I don't use stock antennas but I use the FPVLR antenna made for the Solo. I have been able to fly off my deck slightly over 10,000' I know what you mean about the return to home mode. But I have come to trust it after two years of flying Solo. Just a suggestion on landing practice catching it. I catch mine everytime I land. But make sure you are right under it and come in slow. After you catch it hold the left stick all the way down to turn it off. Happy Flying and thanks for the video.

One thing: It's a good idea to tilt the camera up just before landing to protect the lens in case. You can guess how I know this...

Very cool flight. When I get anywhere near the ground... like 8 inches or less I just drop down. It seems a waste of time to try to deal with ground effect. What a beautiful quad. Was afraid you would drop it in the lake.

One thing for sure, the Android experience of peppering you with notifications and shit would drive me nuts while flying a $1K-$2K drone 3,000ft away.

It goes 50 mph at full speed and up to 70 mph in acro mode.

Eric, Are you aware of the Solex App?? This drone is designed as Open Source, and one of the guys who worked for 3DR designed the Solex App which has some awesome features for the 3DR. However, cost $29.00 Do a search on Solex App in You Tube to learn.

I put my phone on flight mode when I fly my solo, it stops any interruptions. WIFI still works when your phone is in flight mode.

Check out ebay. I've been buying 4.3mm 72degree FOV lenses for $15 and putting them in my GoPros. Changing the lens is pretty easy, and there are videos on youtube telling you how to do this. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iZeGmNd9n8LbXbQ.html

The 3dr drone is about the most awesome flight machine created. Don't ever sell it. I have 3 of them

Pilot error,ur shouldn't move the right stick when the aircraft is about to touch the ground,ur were too rush bringing it down

Joe this happened to me as well. 3DR said it was pilot error, as well, until they looked at my logs. They told me there was something wrong with the drone. Logs confirmed I was holding down the left stick when it decided to flip itself over. Back then, 3DR replaced my broken parts.

Conrad Reed well I can see you shouldn't be flying a,drone if you don't know how to land it you should know that if you deck has cracks in it the,solo will get it's leg stuck and tip over .lol

you have to use IOS. This system is good for apple only. you can use in other devise but you know that happen.

yeah I have a 5c so the app isn't compatible, I'm upgrading soon though.

thats pretty low range for it to cut out. The landing was your fault tho. Maybe add some stoppers to the legs to avoid snags like that. i always catch my phantom 4 by the legs and i havent run into any issues.

WhatIThinkNation wrong it's actually above average for range with the 3DR, and the landing was equal fault I was landing it manually and the GPS cut out randomly.

I meant compared to what I would expect from a pro series drone like a dji line of units. My phantom 4 will run 3000 feet without any issues or boosters. I havent gone more than 4000 feet since i love it more than a first born lol. Would you recommend getting it for a kid ? just to play around with ?? dont want them to play with my DJI. Looking to get one on sale for under $200 and scope out a gimbal and used gopro 3/4 camera used.

There are Solo owners who get well over a mile by purchasing Alfa antennas.

Why would you be test flying over residential homes and not over a safe place were there are no people..

newbie mistake always land in manual mode..... I am sure you've heard this since this video was posted
