    Nice and honest review! A few hints/ tips from a Rancher owner: use higher temps when printing the drivetrain parts in PLA - around 220-230°C depending on the filament - to improve layer adhesion. Also: repairing/maintenance is not as complicated as you have described. E.g: you can drop the whole gearbox/motor by undoing 8 screws if I remember correctly from my Rancher (the center piece at the bottom, the two screws that hold the gearbox/motor and one cardan joint to get it out). You can take out and disassemble the gearbox in a couple of minutes, been there, done that :) For the lights: there are quite easy mods on thingiverse, especially the front lights, rears are a bit tricky because of the limited space. Also quite important: there is a very active, enjoyable and helpful facebook community for the 3dsets cars!

    Good video, nice review of the Rancher. I've spent the last several months building one for a friend several states away so I have had to go the bulletproof option but I have had the trans in and out numerous times getting everything right. You should only have to pull the two screws on the trans, the two screws for the dash and maybe the 4 screws for the skidplate (had to pull the skid to fasten the driveshafts after the fact) to pull the trans out. Have you seen 3d sets Model 7 Buggy? It might be right up your alley :)

    @@nahual04 really depends where you order from. We sell kits at www.RCprinter.com that include motor,screws,bearings,servos and our shipping is 4-8 days to North America but you'll have to source the rest yourself. Many people use AliExpress or banggood but shipping can take months. If you can find stuff at your local hobby shop that'd be the best but Amazon and eBay can work well too depending where you're from.

  • @rcprinter

    Hey Holly, you're really going to want a 3D Printer if you're in the market for one of these things. Parts WILL break and it wouldn't be a great experience if you couldn't get replacements easily. I'd recommend getting an Ender 3 V2 and learning to print it yourself, its really not that hard and we have build kits here: rcprinter.com/products/3d-sets-rancher-build-kits! I don't know of anyone who would 3D Print a custom Jeep for ya. To price it out, non-printed parts are going to be a couple hundred bucks and you'd have to buy a copy of the print files from 3DSets and then the printing time is going be weeks of continuous print time and filament and then the build time is a day or two of work plus painting all your customizations so the cost someone would have to charge would be quite high. I think if you found someone who would be willing to do it you'd be looking at a price tag starting at maybe $750 US and going up from there ... and then you'd still have the fixing it when it breaks issue :-/

    @@SylvesterBartos I'll try. I actually did a recording of my whole 3dsets rancher build but the video quality turned out so terrible I couldn't use it. The buggy is a faster RWD vehicle. The Landy will be a slower 4WD. Both are super cool so I don't think you can go wrong with a 3Dsets design.

    I've been having trouble with the ball joints. They just won't go into track bars without something breaking, and if I do get them to snap in without breaking, the movement is too tight and stiff. My printer is calibrated and optimized for movement and extrusion. I may have to just file or sand down the ball joints to get them fit easier.

  • @rcprinter

    @rcprinter

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey man I thought I responded to this already but guess I didn't save it properly or something. Hopefully you got it figured out by now. Mine all went in without breaking but it was a tight fit. Make sure you're lubing them up first before they go in and I think I used a pair of channel lock pliers to press them in like they show in their video (not in the instructions). If that won't work a little bit of sanding should definitely help or you could reprint the balls with a bit of under extrusion.

    What’s the name of the color you used for the seats? Is it brown? The ones I find on Amazon don’t look like the one you used.

  • @rcprinter

    @rcprinter

    2 жыл бұрын

    Unfortunately there's no name for this color. I was trying to mimic leather so here's what I did. Step 1 - grab a set of your kids paints Step 2 - mix a darkish brown ... paint the seats Step 3 - mix a lighter brown ... paint the seats again but before it dries take some crumpled up plastic wrap and dab them all over to remove part of the paint. Step 4 - pray it looks ok. I think it turned out alright! :)

    I usually use cheap surpass hobby stuff from China like this: (Unsensored) www.banggood.com/Surpass-Hobby-F540-Brushless-Motor-60A-ESC-LED-Program-Card-Combo-for-1-or-10-RC-Crawler-Car-Vehicles-Model-Spare-Parts-p-1749052.html or this (Sensored): www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001963255998.html and servos like this: www.banggood.com/DSSERVO-DS3225-25KG-180-Degree-Metal-Gear-High-Torque-Waterproof-Digital-Servo-For-RC-Airplane-Robot-Car-p-1353688.html These types of parts have suited my needs so far for 3d printed builds and I wouldn't be the best to recommend "name-brand" higher end stuff. Also, I haven't tried brushless in the Rancher (sensored or unsensored) so I'd be a bit wary. 3Dsets has a very active facebook group though so you may want to check that out and ask there.
