You asked for more advanced fusion tutorials, so here's a banger! And while this video focuses on making a 3D product box, the concepts you can learn from this project can be used in hundreds of other projects! Think outside the 3D product box!

The fusion is what keeps bugging me down in DaVinci, every time I think I know what I am doing, I ruin it all and quit xD One day I'll master it!
I grew up on Andrew Kramer tutorials 14 years ago, and I can see where you get your excellent creativity, presentation skills, and goofy humor. Keep up the great work!

Yeah. Hes awesome!
This is the best video i have seen on this subject, because it doesn't make assumptions that you know many things already. It probably takes longer, but it does keep you from getting lost, just because one thing is unfamiliar. 👍 This definitely cleared up some things for me about fusion and 3d. I've managed to understand basically every step without getting completely lost. That's means your instructional technique is not making assumptions about prior knowledge of the listener. That takes discipline and constant awareness to pull off. Good job.
In order to show Fushion you are using Blender for the box modeling. I find that it is much easier to use Blender (box, textures, text, lighting, animation) to create the whole video clip. And not have to deal with Fusion’s (hard to understand) nodes. So much easier in Blender. Tks
Definitely appreciate the keyboard shortcut pop-up
A year ago I would have looked at 0:29 and said "nope". Now, thanks to all of your and other generous tutorials I look at it and say "challenging but not a problem"! I'm cutting something now so I haven't had a chance to watch it but it looks very tasty!
Great advanced tutorial! Would definitely like to see more of these.
Casey, I'm LOVING these Fusion tutorials! Thank you so much!
Oh this is exactly what I needed. I learned a lot on this tutorial! Thanks a bunch
No words... Amazing!
More please! I'd like to make 3d intros, outros, and bumpers for a work banquet.
that’s freaking cool! Saved on my playlist!
Wow, just Wow! This is one of my favorite video so far! The thing is you make it look so easy everytime, and let's not forget your touch of humor which makes learning even more enjoyable. Thanks man !
I'm BEYOND grateful with this tutorial, I was gonna make someone else do this graphic through fiverr for like $300 but I decided to learn it myself and HOLY SMOKES it was worth it. Thank you so much for this!!
You da man Casey!
This is what I'm talking about! Awesome!
Awesome 👌!
Damn I enjoyed the whole video! Thanks for sharing!
That's jaw dropping (at least for me who learns davinci resolve for several months) Thanks for this great video and tutorial
That was a fantastic tut. More plz like this.
Wow! I have only had experience with After Effects and this really blew my mind on the power of the program. I had no idea and have not seen anything like this on any other content creators page yet! Amazing, your skills for worth BANK!
True talent
You made learning Fusion so interesting..! Thank you for the tutorial..
Amazing tutorial! Thanks a lot!
This tutorial helped my editing process. Thanks man!
this was super helpfull
Super!
i love your videos, amazing thumbnail :)))) respect man!
Amazing tutorial¡¡
back in and recently got soft soft again, it felt strange and i had previously just taught myself the software. Finding your videos is helping
I loved the video
I love it. I knew I spent 2 years learning blender for something
Brilliant tutorial - thanks! Would love some more of these advanced tutorials please! Projection and depth maps would be awesome! Eg do a set extension type of tutorial perhaps?
Sorry Casey, This one flew over my head. Thanks for the video anyway. I'll be ready to watch the next one. :-D
Thanks!

Dude...so good! if you just wanna make like 1000 more tuts on 3D in Fusion (motion graphics, compositing, etc)...I definintely won't be complaining! You da masta!! 🙌
Can you show how you made the box and the textures PNG in blender? I couldn't find it in the description
i honestly would do the animation and lighting in blender
Thank you so much for all you do. Was wondering if you have a video on spine only. Or if you could make one and break it down for the rest of us?
Dear Casey, thanks for this nice tutorial. I used your idea to make a small birthday greetings video with an individualized book (which is simular to your box) for a girl who loves books .... (the book of course I downloaded as an fbx file....I did not create it in blender, cause there is so nice stuff in the net. Advanced fusion tutos are highly welcome. Yes, I also appreciate more blender tutos, though I myself never ever want to learn Blender - I struggle enough with Fusion. (I open Blender only to change pivot points and simple basis stuff like that.) But I appreciate when more people use blender, so they will provide fbx-download stuff for me :-)
Great video. You can also limit the Blur to one object by using ObjectID. In the Renderer3D Output Channels, you enable ObjectID. Then you can add your blur node after the Renderer3D, switch to the Settings tab and enable Use Object. Then you just set the ObjectID to the Object ID of the 3D object you want to blur. This eliminates the need for the second Merge3D and Renderer3D. Either way works of course.

Oooo I'll have to check that out
Awesome vid Casey, as always. As to your last comment, I think that on your channel you've covered all the basics on all Resolve pages pretty comprehensively so more tutorials on things like multi-layering 3D scenes into 2D composites, particle systems, advanced motion graphics etc might be the way to go.

I agree. I would love to see more 3D tutorials
Awesome tutorial man. That node tree is like the inside of my head. Lots of things going on but I struggle to keep pace with it all. 😂
One thing I always do in 3D in Fusion is a Merge 3D for the scene where every object is together and another Merge 3D just for the lights and camera
great stuff,well explained.hope seen something about projection mapping.building total 3d scene starting with 2d photos.thank u
Great video. watch many times :D . Please make a video on how to make transitions in fusion and save them to use on the edit page.
Oh my you use blender 😃 Amazing 👏 Hopefully fusion does a sync addon
you for uploading tNice tutorials for free and providing education to beginners.
💓💓💓
Really fun! But why use a mesh instead of a shaped node?
THE FRUIT HAS SPOKEN
I'm definitely a newb,, however I enjoy following along the more advanced tutorials and trying to figure out any problems that arise. Do I smell two more playlists to follow? Softcore and hardcore davinci
Love your videos man! This one is another amazing one, thanks! Question: how do I match the art work with the object, I mean like dimensions wise? Do I like make a canvas size in Photoshop that matches the size of the object in blender?
very helpful thank you. if you want suggested topics im trying to convert all my ae projects i made into essential graphics to fusion... if you have any tips to get those over that would be very useful to many i think.
I'd love to see a 3D text tutorial, I'm imagining like on Harry Potter when the camera is flying through the clouds flies straight between the W and B in the Warner Brothers logo. The text looks to be made of stone, and its theres lightning going off.. would be awesome!
Great tutorial! any tips on trouble shooting i brought in the fbxMesh3d1 in 18.5 but its not showing the object in view 1 just an empty 3d grid
Can we use a step file for the box?
Thanks for shareing. Two questions though, if lighting doesn't matter in the node your editing them why go through the trouble of positions the lights? And, how are you rotating the 3D world because when I hold down the mouse wheel my rotation is limited to left and right, I can't change my perspective to being or under the subject
1:35 mentions a link that seems is not there I would love to learn how to make that mesh box!
Hey Casey would you consider doing map animations kind of like what Boone Loves Video does but in Fusion instead of AE?
TREAT YOUR HANDSOME MAN!!! BING! 😂
Nice one. i modeled a Cube in Blender as well a year ago. But you could do it also solo using Fusion by using the Cube 3D and connect all the sides :) But then you would not have bevels ...
@CaseyFaris
2 жыл бұрын
Exactly, the bevels are what make it nice.
It's fantastic but I want this without blender
Your videos are Awesome man👍👍👍, Can I bring a rigged character and animate it inside Davinci resolve ?
why dont make e box in fusion 3D image ?
Is there a way to make a group with multi channel audio so you could select a specific channel when cutting into a timeline? Say I had a group with 3 camera and that multi channel file had 6 channels. Now I want to cut into my timeline from the group, camera 4 & audio channel 3 & 6 at the same time. Is this possible???
@24:29 "I wish there was a way to link these automatically." When playing a musical instrument, there's a concept called 'conservation of movement'. Either type "=XSize" in the value parameter directly; or right-click on YSize, choose 'create expression' and then drag the pick whip separately. You waste a bunch of time and energy constantly shifting your hands from the keyboard to the mouse and back again. It's like using a Pen Tablet all over again! Great thing about Davinci is that there's multiple ways to accomplish things; Bad thing about Davinci is that you can get in the habit of mixing methodologies or best practices. Also remember that Davinci automatically links downstream nodes. Since your hands are on the keyboard already, " s,s,t,a, , , s,t,r, , , s,r,e,n, " is more streamlined than adding the node, grabbing the mouse, moving it, dragging connections, back to the keyboard to add the next one... Similarly, Click on your merge node. Then click the Rectangle mask. Done! BOOM! Maybe I just hate the mouse...
The image does not look right on the 3d box, although it is the same one I used in blender. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Or how I can solve it?
Where is the box making tutorial?
It looks like your suggested link didn't hit the description yet. Did you have a tutorial of how you skinned the box?
@CaseyFaris

It's on its way...
There seems to be a lot of different ways to start a fusion session. What is the difference between them? I.e. just clicking on the fusion icon vs add new fusion clip, etc.
@Photovintageguy
2 жыл бұрын
Mainly it's about where you are bringing in media. If you are bringing media like a video from the edit page, then it makes sense to create it from the edit page. If you are bringing it from a file like this 3d file from blender then you can do on the fusion page. Technically you can do either, but it's just a few less steps. One issue is also the resolution you are working at make sure if you are going to use 1920 x 1080 for example you have to bring media in that resolution or put it on a background at that resolution. That would be similar to a canvas size in Photoshop, if you're familiar. If you still don't understand completely just follow what people do in the tutorials, eventually it will probably make more sense with use. Follow the tutorials step by step, that's kinda like using training wheels on a bike. Eventually you'll move past it, but for the time being you need time on the bike actually using it, till you become comfortable.
Do you not want to duplicate and flip all the lights? If you could see the top of the box it wouldn't be lit the same.
Did he co back tho
Press F1 on your keyboard and its show you everytNice tutorialng you need to know...if you are stuck then watch the video
Can you comment just two words (free version or studio version) in your detail description? I am using free version, so I want to know which one you are using before I start to learn your tutorial.
@williammitchell5432

You can do all this in the free version
So get blender also thats free also correct
couldnt u make the entire box with fusion 3d nodes?
