3D Printing: Ender vs Bambu...sort of.

Ok, not really a detailed shootout between these two popular brands, but hopefully at least some food for thought for those of you wanting to get into 3D printing.

A LOT of people have started using CAD because of 3D printing. It's a great way to introduce people to manufacturing in general. From there you can start to think about more complex subtractive processes or even tooling processes like aluminum extrusion (my favorite)

I have several fdm and sla printers. I got my ender 3 in 2018 and its still the one i use the most. Its heavily modified now, but thats what is so great about it. You get a pretty decent printer out of the box, but you have the ability to very easily upgrade it and make it equivalent to much more expensive printers. Mine now is direct drive, on linear rails, runs octoprint, has a bl touch and many other mods. There are a ton of great options for printers, but you really can't go wrong with a cheap ender 3.

An Ender 5 produced five bullet collators with electronic switches, magazine flags, bolt holders, tool holders, ammo holders, and other things, ahem. Not all printing filament is created alike, regardless of their labeling. Some printers just don't like certain types/brands.

I bought a ender 3 s1 pro from comgrow for half off its retail price. They periodically have returns and which are usually a dummy that doesnt know how to set it up and blame the company for making a bad printer. I paid $250 for a $500 printer that had nothing wrong with it. I still need to buy a hardened steel nozzle, but other than that, its ready to print carbon fiber nylon and other harder to print filaments. My current project is building a belt fed semi auto(i know) with rpd top cover and feed tray and AKM parts and the 3d printer and some nylon will definitely come in handy

I have two Ender 3 Pros myself, they're reliable machines and easy to maintain and diagnose... if you know what you're doing. You can get excellent results with budget printers if you're an enthusiast, but for most they'll be headaches to manage. I'd never recommend it to a casual consumer, and if they insist I'll make it very well clear to them that they require a healthy time investment to use.

Ive got 2 of the ender 3 Max printers and theyre pretty darn solid. prototyped several guns on them. you have to understand that things like the build surface, PET bowden tube, nozzle, extruder gear, they are all wear componentss and you should just have a few on hand because they break after a few months continuous usage. and my printers basically never sleep.

I've been using my Ender 3 for years for gun and FPV drone parts. I really want to get a Bambu Labs X1 Carbon, but damn they're expensive. At work I use a Fortus 450mc where I print race car parts. I learned Fusion 360 CAD when I bought my Ender 3. I am so happy that I learned how to do CAD. I can't draw for shit, but I can draw in CAD. It is so awesome that a picture you have in your head can be drawn on a computer then turned into a real part with a 3D printer. My dad's old backhoe carburetor was missing the arm for the choke. I took some measurements then drew it up in CAD, 3D printed the part, made sure it fit, then recreated the print out of aluminum on my mini mill.

If anyone wants a 3d printer and has a micro center near by you can get a coupon off their website and get an ender 3v2 for 99 bucks. I picked one up and did about 60 bucks in upgrades and it’s prettt freakin sweet. I printed a few toys for the kids and some silly stuff for the ole lady to get the hang of it but it’s pretty straight forward. The cool thing is you can dive as deep as you want into it from designing your own stuff to just printing files that are already out there. If you can use a search engine pretty well you can find just about anything you could wanna print and tons of videos on how to do this or that and even peoples print settings so you really can be pretty lazy about it. I’ve been looking at picking up the Bambu labs printer just to be able to print cool multi color stuff , 1300 is hard to swallow just for a hobby though.

3D printed gun movement: Wants ability to make their own guns, anonymously, and free from surveillance. Also 3D printed gun movement: Gravitates to Bambu Labs printers, which keep an encrypted log file, and prevent the user from reading it or knowing where it is being sent. By default forces you to print through the cloud or lose full use of all the features and ability to update machine firmware. Mark, I hope you are using your Bambus in offline mode, else you may be inadvertently violating ITAR since your data is going through servers owned by the Chinese.

Loads depend on material and print angle. They have great compressive strength, but weaker (relative) sheer strength. Detail or resolution is determined by the diameter of the nozzle. To get extra fine detail you may need to resort to a resin printer which has it's own trade-offs.

Most of them can do just that. The Ender doesn't need internet access to work. The Bambulabs printers are another matter the software is using the net and make them simple to use. But without a bit of tweaking they will contact outside servers. But look at all the Prusa, Ender and a lot of other manufacturers where the main communication is a CF card loaded directly to the printer with the data for the parts you're printing. Nothing needs to go on the net unless you intentionally does so.
